It takes about 15 hours to beat the main story in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is technically the third entry in Insomniac's Spider-Man series, serving as a direct sequel to both the 2018 Spider-Man game and 2020's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

In Spider-Man 2, players take on the role of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, free to switch between the two heroes at will as they protect New York City from the crime and supervillains that plague it. It's no secret that the Spider-Man 2 open world is larger than the first game, with the sequel opening up new sections of New York City for players to explore. Some players may wonder if that same logic applies to about how long it takes to beat the main story.

There are a couple of different difficulty options in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and here's what players need to know about them.

While Spider-Man 2 may have a larger open world than its predecessor, the main story is about the same length. It takes about 15 hours to beat Spider-Man 2's story, with 31 main story missions for players to complete. Someone rushing through everything or playing on low difficulty settings may be able to wrap up Spider-Man 2's story quicker than that, though. It wouldn't be outlandish for someone to beat the game in around 10 hours if they ignore all the side content. As far as completing the game 100% and unlocking the Platinum trophy, Spider-Man 2 players can expect such an endeavor to take around 25 hours.

  • Main Story: 10-15 hours
  • Platinum Trophy: 20-25 hours

The main story missions are the bulk of the Spider-Man 2 experience, but there is a lot more to do after the credits roll. Those that want to experience everything Spider-Man 2 has to offer will need to complete the game's 50+ side missions, hunt down all the Spider-Bot collectibles, acquire all the suits, and fill out all three skill trees. On top of all this, Spider-Man 2 has some miscellaneous challenges players have to complete to unlock certain trophies. Those that use a guide to find all the Spider-Bots will be able to get the Platinum even faster than 25 hours, as that is definitely one of the most time-consuming tasks in the game.

It's recommended that Spider-Man 2 players take their time when playing through the main story. Instead of utilizing Spider-Man 2's instant fast-travel feature, they should instead consider swinging to each objective, keeping an eye out for side activities, Spider-Bots, and the like so they can work toward 100% completion while completing the main story missions.
