Launching in October, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have multiple editions available for pre-oder as well as a slew of bonus outfits for those who want to put down money prior to launch. It's been a busy month for Insomniac Games as the developer finally showed off the first gameplay of the PS5 exclusive, Spider-Man 2. Players saw a symbiote infected Peter Parker working with Miles Morales to locate The Lizard before Kraven The Hunter's forces got their first. The gameplay featured thrilling cinematic moments, stealth, as well as the same fast paced combat fans have come to expect.
Following up on that, Insomniac again appeared on Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest event, an annual event showcasing some of the biggest announcements and reveals. While Insomniac didn't have any additional gameplay to show off, creative Direct Bryan Intihar did have a few pieces of concept art to reveal, one including the highly anticipated character Venom. Alongside the confirmed launch date for Spider-Man 2, Insomniac also had news to share regarding pre-order bonuses and different game editions.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac's community manager James Stevenson spoke a little more about the game, confirming PS5 features like 3D audio, faster web swinging, and more. The post also went on to confirm that on June 16, players can start the Spider-Man 2 pre-order process and score a bunch of bonus items in the process. All pre-orders come with Peter's Arachknight Suit and the Shadow-Spider Suit for Miles. Each one has an additional 3 color variants, and players will also score 3 bonus skill points, and an early unlock for Web Grabber gadget.
However, Insomniac also has plans for a Deluxe and Collectors versions of Spider-Man 2 as well. Digital Deluxe comes with the game, all pre-order bonuses, an additional 2 skill points to flesh out each Spider-Man 2 character, and bonus photo mode items. It also comes with 10 additional suits, 5 for each hero including:
- Tactical Suit
- Stone Monkey Suit
- Apunkalyptic Suit
- 25th Century Suit
- Aurantia Suit
- Agimat Suit
- Red Spectre Suit
- Encoded Suit
- Biomechanical Suit
- Tokusatsu Suit
Finally, the Collector's Edition takes things even further. Not only does it include everything mentioned above, but it also adds in a Steelbook case and "an extraordinary, high-quality 19-inch statue" of Miles and Peter battling Venom.
For those curious, the Digital Deluxe edition is set at $79.99, while the Collector's Edition pushes things to $229.99 and according to Insomniac, it's only available while supplies last. It's also worth noting that the Collector's Edition does not come with a physical disc and instead includes a voucher for the digital version.
Spider-Man 2 launches October 20, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
