When first swinging into Marvel's Spider-Man 2, there are a few common errors that new players will want to identify and avoid.

The exciting easter eggs in Marvel’sSpider-Man 2 range from deep comic dives to neat references to other characters and films. The best easter eggs are certainly the ones that go deeper than initially realized, and what players might not know, is how deep the rabbit hole goes for the Marvel mythos woven into Spider-Man 2.

8 Knull, God Of The Symbiotes

When the Symbiote comes into play in Marvel’sSpider-Man 2, players will begin to notice some strange symbols. Not only does Kurt Connors’ lab have a strange spiral drawing on a whiteboard, but the meteorite that housed the Venom Symbiote also has this spiral carving into the rock. Other Symbiotes that infect New York City also have this spiral.

The spiral found on the Symbiotes is actually the brand of Knull, a character in the Marvel Comics who is essentially the God of Symbiotes, and the King in Black who wants to shroud the universe in darkness. It’s rather ominous to see these symbols everywhere, with no one but the audience knowing what it could mean for the future of the games.

7 Fantastic Four’s Baxter Building

the baxter building

Located in the very far right corner of Hell's Kitchen, players can find a large building with a rather exciting rooftop. This building is the Baxter Building, which is noted as the iconic headquarters for the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s First Family. Whilst The Fantastic Four has been referenced in the prior game thanks to the Bombastic Bagman suit, it’s nice to see the Baxter Building, especially with a fresh coating of paint on the rooftop.

With the iconic 4 logo being painted on top, could it spell a tease for the potential future of the Fantastic Four in Marvel’s Spider-Man, as they prefer for a rebranding? After all, The Human Torch is one of Spider-Man’s best friends, so it would be great to get more Marvel characters involved.

6 Wolverine’s Suit

  • Cost: 105 Tech Parts, 7 City Tokens
  • Style Cost: 45 Tech Parts, 2 Rare Tech Parts

To some, it might not be obvious, but The Best There Is comes as a suit unlocks for Miles Morales which will see him don a costume very much inspired by Wolverine. From the cowl to the color scheme, players might not get to see Wolverine in the flesh and Adamantium claws in Spider-Man 2, but they can certainly see what Insomniac Games has been cooking up so far with these Miles exclusive costumes.

The 24 Best Spider-Man Video Games Of All Time, Ranked

Marvel's Spider-Man has had his fair share of video game adaptations, with these being the very best titles to feature the Wall-Crawler.

What’s even better, is that the Best There Is suit comes in 4 different styles, with three of them being a reference point for Wolverine’s best costumes, with his classic yellow and brown, modern blue and yellow, and his gray and black X-Force costume. Even the name, The Best There Is, could showcase the tone Insomniac has for Wolverine, as it’s a fairly cocky title to have.

5 Wakanda Forever

Players can find the Wakandan Embassy in the Midtown district, and if they approach as Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, they will be prompted with the Triangle button to click an ‘Honor’ action. This will have Miles perform the Wakanda Forever salute, in which Miles will cross his closed hands across his chest.

This is most likely a reference to the MCU’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away in 2020. His legacy is felt throughout Marvel’s presence, and his footprint will be forever etched into the character of Black Panther, so it’s great for Insomniac to give players a way to pay their respects.

4 Original Daily Bugle

During a playthrough as Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, players can start the Photo Help side mission, in which they will embark on a flashback to Peter Parker’s first time meeting the rageful brick-top editor of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson. When players meet up with JJJ, they’re bound to find him sitting with a coffee outside the Daily Bugle.

This building is the very same Daily Bugle from the Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films, the Flatiron Building in New York City. Back in the modern day, the Daily Bugle is no longer located here, but it’s a nice touch to see that in the past, the building held the famed New York City paper, hellbent on making liable accusations on Spider-Man’s name.

3 Big Wheel Is A Big Wheel

One of the silliest villains in Marvel Comics is Big Wheel, a character that fans seem to adore just because of how absurd this one-time villain is. Big Wheel is essentially a man inside a Ferris wheel, which rolls on the ground with two mechanical arms. It’s safe to say that Big Wheel won’t be getting the villain treatment or a spot in the Sinister Six.

In Marvel’sSpider-Man 2, players can travel to Coney Island to find the fairground attractions. One that stands out is the Ferris wheel since it’s literally called Big Wheel, named after the not-so-famous Spider-Man villain from days of old.

2 Amazing Fantasy #15 (Spider-Man’s Original Issue)

The Photo Help side mission from Peter Parker’s Spider-Man will have the character reminisce on a photograph he took in his first year as the famed Wall Crawler. Spider-Man looks to an issue of the Daily Bugle with his first printed photograph, which just so happens to be a wonderful homage to the original issue and first appearance of Spider-Man, Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962).

The cover depicts Spider-Man, as drawn by Steve Ditko, and written by Stan Lee, holding onto a crook as he swings through the city. This introduction of Spider-Man changed comics forever, and it’s a lovely touch to have the cover feature in Marvel’sSpider-Man 2.

1 Daredevil No More?

the closed offices of matt murdock and foggy nelson

Nelson and Murdock had a pretty good thing going for them in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Whilst the characters were never seen, their legal business was an important part of Hell’s Kitchen, and their office and business card could be found in the game. However, if players venture into this same building in Spider-Man 2, the plaque is void of any text.

This could imply a few things. Hopefully, Murdock and Nelson are still friends and have just moved somewhere else in the city after a big case. Or, it could mean that Matt Murdock has taken up the Daredevil persona full-time, causing a split between them, with their law partnership forced to shut down because of it.
