Today’s Spellbreak shop update has gone live featuring the Feathered Freefall cloudburst, Sapphire Purity afterglow, and Smoldering Warrior outfit. Despite creating some controversy, Spellbreak's Pyromancer loyalists will not want to miss the opportunity to secure this upgradable fire elemental skin.

The Feathered Freefall (Epic) cloudburst costs 600 gold, while the Sapphire Purity (Rare) afterglow runs for 800 gold. For the inexperienced spell slingers out there, afterglows are the trails emitted from a Breaker’s feet as they levitate, and cloudbursts are the trails left behind as a Breaker drops into the Hollow Lands battleground.

The Smoldering Warrior (Rare) outfit, one of only six elemental skins in the game, is worth a hefty 1200 gold. Players whose piggy banks are a looking a bit light should master multiple schools of magic to earn gold quickly.

While the Smoldering Warrior skin is sure to make any flame-wielding battlemage excited, elemental outfits have been the center of controversy among the Spellbreak community. Spellbreak’s Chapter 1: Spellstorm update arrived earlier this month, adding 72 new quests, 50 levels of rewards, and plenty of lore to discover. The expansion also introduced the title’s first “Chapter Pass.” The Chapter Pass, which costs 1000 gold, is Spellbreak’s version of the traditional season pass common in most battle royale games.

Developer Proletariat received backlash after revealing the connection between Chapter Passes and the long-awaited tier upgrades for elemental skins. According to a post on Spellbreak’s official Reddit, the only way to upgrade elemental skins to their Epic and Legendary tiers is by progressing through upcoming Chapter Passes. Many fans speculated upgrades for elemental skins would be tied to class-based progression, rather than in-game purchases.

As of now, mages willing to purchase Chapter Passes should not miss their chance to secure the Smoldering Warrior. Proletariat has assured fans these skins will regularly appear, but there is no telling when it might make another appearance. Before the rest of the elemental skins make their way to the store, it might be a good idea to research Spellbreak’s talent system to determine which battlemage element players would like to focus on.

Spellbreak is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
