After a positive response and frequent fan requests to bring it back, Spellbreak's Duos mode has been added back into the game until further notice.

The magical battle royale Spellbreak fully released last fall with high player anticipation. There are three modes to play in Spellbreak's battle royale: Solo, Duo, and Squad. However, Duos mode was locked at launch and only unlocked for a brief period shortly after. Duos allow players to team up with a friend or a stranger as two-player teams and received positive reception from players.

At the time, Duos mode was seemingly locked for testing and fine-tuning, but players can once again return to Spellbreak in pairs. Duos change up gameplay significantly because each spell interacts uniquely with other spells, which can make each encounter either stressful or fun. Having a teammate in Spellbreak can complement loadouts as much as it can lead to chaos.

And instead of Duos mode being unlocked only temporarily this time, Spellbreak is leaving the gameplay mode open for the "foreseeable future," according to a recent tweet. When one user asked why it was locked, the official Spellbreak Twitter responded that "not enough players were opting for the mode," which resulted in longer queue times.

It looks like Duos mode was reopened to test the waters, and because so many players are enjoying playing in pairs, Spellbreak will keep it unlocked for the time being. Fans of the battle royale are happy to see the response to fan demand, though some Breakers are still noting long queue times for Duos mode.

Spellbreak is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
