Soulslike titles mainly focus on players experimenting with different builds through various weaponry, while taking on deadly bosses that will encourage the player to die countless times in the hopes of learning something. Some players may be surprised to find out that customizing their character goes much deeper than picking weapons, armor, and stats, as starting these Soulslike titles allows players to also choose what their character looks like.

Lords of the Fallen (2023) is by far one of the most beautiful Soulslike games to release in recent years. This detail in the environment also transfers over to the characters players are able to create. The customization options at the start of Lords of the Fallen allow players to either select from presets or fine-tune their choices to make the character that they feel is right for the challenges ahead.

Players can even pick three from an assortment of heads and then select a happy middle between them to create their final character. Having this level of detail is surprising for a Soulslike, as many players may have their character's face covered at all times.

Dark Souls is a classic as it's the game that inspired the Soulslike genre. With this franchise inspiring other games, it's no surprise that players are able to create their own hero to put in front of all sorts of dangers. Dark Souls 2 was an improvement on the character creator, with players having a variety of choices they can make besides picking their class, to make their character their own.

If players can look past unnaturally muscular bodies, it's possible for a player to make a character that looks somewhat good even when in battle. Like other FromSoftware games, it's still easier for players to create a horrifying character than make a good one, though it really shows how far Dark Souls 2 can be pushed.

Players create their Tarnished through a variety of sliders that see each feature of the character change in intricate or drastic ways.

Some players may spend countless hours creating the most handsome character they can think of while refusing to ever wear a helmet to show off their beauty. Others have the freedom to create an utter abomination that would even strike fear into the Elden Beast with its looks. FromSoftware has even added more to the character customization, as all players were given free hairstyles before the release of Shadow of the Erdtree.
