Sometimes, resources are hard to find because they're camouflaged by their surroundings, like in the case of Aloe Leaves. However, other times, it's just a matter of looking in the right place. For ice, players need to travel to one of the furthest regions on the map, the northwest icy mountains.
Before starting their journey, players should activate a portal near their base , so they can activate the one found in the mountains and facilitate the journey back home. Otherwise, the journey is too long for most people to bother making it just for one resource. Once the portal is activated, the travel time is reduced significantly.
Any water bodies in this region contain ice for players to harvest. Furthermore, nodes of ice can be found scattered on the land as well. All players need to do to get this ice is to use a pickaxe. The higher the quality of the pickaxe, the more ice they can harvest from each node. Traveling to the location can be a big chore. However, having a mount will help a lot.
If players are intending to harvest a large amount of ice at once, they should travel to the region on a Llama with the appropriate saddle attachments. This way, they will only need to go to the mountains for ice once for a large haul that will last them a long time.

The main use of ice in the game is to prevent food from spoiling. They will need to create an Ice Box, a medieval version of a refrigerator. However, it only unlocks at Awareness Strength 40. To make the Ice Box work, players need to put in ice as the 'fuel' and store their food in the ice box. This way, fresh meat can stay fresh for a long time without turning into carrion.
