After three and a half years of Super Smash Bros Ultimate making gaming dreams come true with its incredible roster, the lineup of fighters is finally finished. Everyone is here, including Sora from Kingdom Hearts; the light at the end of the tunnel for the fans who waited for him. Unfortunately, some of those players were left to wait just a bit more as the traffic for Sora caused the Nintendo eShop to crash.

Sora was announced as the last fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the last Sakurai Presents. Many fans all over the world were surprised and excited that the Keyblade wielder ended up being the last fighter. The number of fans apparently ended up being far too much for Nintendo's servers to handle at once, as many error messages were handed out to players when trying to download the DLC.

Nintendo ran maintenance on Smash Bros. Ultimate and its network services in preparation for Sora's launch, and after Smash Ultimate's update went live, the servers quickly buckled under the pressure. Fans took to social media to express their inability to get Sora, while other fans just wanted to get the Doom Slayer Mii Fighter outfit and couldn't. So many fans shared their experiences that "Nintendo eShop" began to trend on a few platforms.

While the eShop was down, the network services had to deal with what fans did manage to get the new fighter, and couldn't keep up. Where half of the fans commenting were talking about their eShop woes, soon the other half was Smash players saying that they lost connection due to the traffic. Soon after, the maintenance on the network services was complete, and now fans may be able to access Sora with no trouble.

While it's unfortunate that some people couldn't get the character they wanted due to technical problems, the situation is a little humorous to watch through the reactions of fans. At the very least, once everything is back to normal, Sora should be fairly easy to get. It seems like a fitting end to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's DLC, as Persona 5's Joker caused the servers to break on his launch as well.

Though, with the news of Nintendo's eShop servers crashing due to this release, it makes one think about what will happen with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. With such a high price and servers that crash even during official Smash Bros tournaments, there's bound to be some improvement Nintendo can make. Whatever improvements Nintendo gives to its online services, however, will most likely come to play later rather than sooner.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on Nintendo Switch.
