Nintendo has revealed the final Amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate line of figures with Kingdom Hearts' Sora receiving his own figure soon. While Amiibos have been featured across a variety of different Nintendo titles throughout the Wii U and Switch eras, the Super Smash Bros. series features the most recognizable in-game use of the NFC figures. Players can scan their Amiibos into the fighting games in order to train up their own AI fighters, learning and improving based on a player's own playstyle. Now, the last of the Switch game's DLC characters is getting his own figure.

Nintendo shocked fans when it announced Sora as the final DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in late 2021. The spiky-haired protagonist from the Kingdom Hearts series had been one of the most highly-requested DLC additions from fans, even winning the Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot for the Wii U and 3DS games. Many fans had suspected Disney may have been a reason for the character's absence from Smash, with the studio reportedly tight-fisted with its copyrighted characters. Now, Sora is about to receive his own figure from Nintendo.

Nintendo would officially announce the upcoming release of the Sora Amiibo during the September Nintendo Direct. The reveal would confirm that Sora's Amiibo will release at an unspecified date during 2024, serving as the final DLC fighter to receive his own figure from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The figure re-creates Sora's iconic pose with the Keyblade slung over his shoulder, both featured in the original series and his reveal trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The reveal of Sora's Amiibo will likely come as the final update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans, with many wondering where the series will go next. Nintendo has yet to confirm a follow-up to the massively successful fighting game, with a potential Smash successor likely not coming until after the launch of Nintendo's next console. Series creator Masahiro Sakurai also previously confirmed his "semi-retirement" from the gaming industry, though some fans suspect he may return for another Smash game. Sakurai now creates videos for his YouTube channel sharing stories from his time developing games.

Sora's Amiibo was just one part of a jam-packed Direct filled with major announcements from Nintendo. The broadcast featured a plethora of new titles including a remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong and more information about the Super Mario RPG Remake and Princess Peach: Showtime. Nintendo would also drop a surprise reveal at the end of the Direct, confirming the long-awaited remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Super Smash Bros. fans will look to get one last addition to the beloved fighting game when Sora's Amiibo releases next year.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch.
