Sony opens pre-orders for the upcoming Deep Earth Collection for PS5 controllers and console covers that include colors Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, and Cobalt Blue. The gaming giant has never been too shy in announcing fresh designs for its controllers and consoles. It was reported earlier that Sony had been planning to release new colors for its controllers and console covers by late 2023 and early 2024. Many gamers were eager for details about its release, and some fans were really looking forward to getting their hands on the said items.

Personalizing one's console has been something modern gamers have had the luxury of doing, as gaming companies now offer more official and commercially available choices. While Sony has not been too shy in announcing custom palettes and designs for its modern consoles, users still think there are more selections that the company can offer. Fans have even come up with custom colors they wish Sony could provide for the PS5, in hopes that their wishes could come true. However, at least a new set of color selections will be available soon for purchase.

According to the PlayStation Blog, pre-orders are now open for PS5's Deep Earth Collection, a set of new colors for DualSense controllers and console covers. This offer will be available for gamers located in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal via the PlayStation store and a few select retailers. Some global markets will also carry the pre-orders in a limited capacity on the same day. The available colors for both the controller and cover pre-orders are Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. As mentioned in the report, the Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue will be released first on November 3, while the Sterling Silver will launch on January 26.

The new colors look simple but sleek. It's an arguably good look with a metallic sheen, and not too over-the-top like some other designs. It's not as artistic as the previously released LeBron James PS5 custom controller and cover, or even the Japan-exclusive limited edition Final Fantasy 16 designs, but they do provide a more natural look for the console and its accessories.

These selections are just a small chunk of the available colors that are fully available for customization. However, those still left feeling unsatisfied by the choices have the option to do their own personalization, similar to the player who got a custom PS5 with a photo of his dad. The wonder of the detachable PS5 covers allows gamers to easily do their own designs and art without having to fully disassemble the console. Still, having new official colors for sale is the best option for many as it is the most hassle-free option. Hopefully, Sony will come up with more colors in the future.
