In Sons of the Forest, players are dropped onto a terrifying island with a cannibal-infested forest. From there, they must do what it takes to survive and try to discover the island's secrets. The Revolver is one of the ranged weapons that makes taking out the cannibals significantly easier than a melee weapon.
The expedition to find the Revolver is a long one, because there are several items players will need before they can access its location. However, the faster they get it, the better. As they survive more days, cannibals and even cave mutants will start spawning in large numbers. So, this guide covers where the Revolver is and how to get it in Sons of the Forest.
Preparing to Get the Revolver
Before getting the Revolver, players have to get the Shovel, Rope Gun, and Rebreather. All three items are found in caves around the northwest side of the forest. Players should start with getting the Rebreather or the Rope Gun before going after the Shovel, as they will need both to navigate its cave system. Caves are very different from the lively forest; they are dark, gloomy, and wet. The GPS is also useless in caves, so players will have to travel deeper and hope they can find the exit without running into too much trouble.
Getting a ranged weapon or explosives will make traveling through the caves safer, since multiple mutant variants exist within. Cave mutants are fast and have acclimated themselves to the dark, so when they attack, they rush at players, and there isn't much time for a reaction. Caves also lack food and water resources, so stocking up on meat and energy drinks or using a flask for water is wise. The Rebreather is in the shortest cave, which may be a good starting point for anyone who hasn't gone cave exploring in Sons of the Forest.
Revolver Location in Sons of the Forest
The Revolver is on the northeast side of the island. Players can use the GPS to find it by finding the pulsating green marker in the area. The easiest way to get there is to go around the mountain rather than trying to scale up it. Head towards the green marker, and eventually, there will be a flat, open clearing with two broken-down golf carts and digging equipment. A shovel icon will appear between the equipment, indicating where to start digging. Players must dig up all the dirt (or snow in the wintertime) to reveal a hatch door to an underground facility with the words Maintenance C on it.
Hold down "E" to open the door and climb down inside the underground bunker. There is a long hallway with two rooms, one at the end and the other halfway down the hall on the right. The room at the end is a storage area with a few resources and supplies. The room on the right is unfurnished and in the middle of renovations. A dead worker is propped up against a ladder in the middle of the room. The Revolver is sitting on the floor next to him.
The Revolver uses 9mm ammo, like the Pistol. There are no attachments, but it packs a punch without them. Not many cannibals can handle more than one hit from the Revolver, and it is possible to shoot off their limbs with it.
Where to Get Revolver Ammo
Revolver ammo is picked up by exploring the island and searching crates, bodies, and campsites. All the item locations will respawn after a couple of in-game days, so it is worth checking back to get the most ammo possible. While ammo can be found in supply crates or just sitting out, the red and black ammo cases are more likely to hold ammo and explosives.
After getting ammo, load the gun by holding down R and right-click to shoot. Virginia can also wield a weapon, so players can give her the Shotgun or Pistol if they want to use the Revolver. She has unlimited ammo and will shoot cannibals whenever they attack or get too close.
