Outfits are an important part of Sons of the Forest, as they provide both statistical bonuses and are one of the few ways that players can change their appearance. The Leather Jacket is one such outfit and one that players can get relatively early on if they are adventurous enough. At the start of the game, both the player and Kelvin are equipped with a Tactical Jacket, but this doesn't provide much in terms of stats and feels rather default in terms of looks.
The Leather Jacket is a perfect item to spruce up either the player or Kelvin. It is by no means necessary for players to get the Leather Jacket in Sons of the Forest, but the extra stats and new look are always nice to have. Players will want to be careful if they do choose to venture out for this equipment, though, as both cannibals and mutants pose a serious threat.
Where to Find the Leather Jacket
There are actually two guaranteed Leather Jackets to be found in Sons of the Forest, one at the Plane Crash and one at the Rebreather Cave. Of these two options, the Plane Crash is the safer of the two since it isn't guarded by enemies. To find the Plane Crash, players should head to the southern location shown on the map above. Once there, they'll need to search the cockpit of the plane to find a pilot who has the Leather Jacket on them.
To find the Rebreather Cave, players should check the northern spot marked on the map above. They will need to use a Tactical Axe in order to break into the cave and start exploring it, so should come prepared. Players will need to contend with blind mutants and Fingers as they traverse the cave, but the reward is well worth it. Not only will they get the Leather Jacket but also a Rebreather and a Stun Gun. Once the path splits, players will need to take the right path to find both the Taser and the Leather Jacket near the body that is hanging from the ceiling.
With one or both of the Leather Jackets in hand, players can now equip it on themselves or give it to everyone's favorite NPC, Kelvin. This item provides the player with Low-Moderate Warmth, Low-Moderate Comfort, and Moderate Water Resistance. This is relatively well-rounded compared to some other types of outfits in the game, making it a great choice for most situations. To make matters even better, it comes with some cool shades as well.
