Sons of the Forest is a horror survival game developed by Endnight Games and is the sequel to The Forest. Players are lost in a cannibal-infested remote forest and must fight their way off the island.
Underground bunkers were automatically marked on the GPS with green flashing circles when Sons of the Forest was first released. Players will find weapons, blueprints, and essential equipment at these places. However, since Patch 04 removed the bunker markers from the GPS, players must discover POI (point of interest) laptops to activate the trackers.
All Bunker Locations in Sons of the Forest
The map in Sons of the Forest is significantly larger than its predecessor, and traveling on foot is necessary to reach some key locations. After crash landing, players pick up an emergency pack with a GPS, Lighter, Tactile Axe, and a Survivalist Guide Book. The GPS map is a great tool for navigation and displays caves, bases, GPS locators, and bunker locations once the corresponding POI laptop is found.
Many bunkers require tools or key cards to access, but a few locations can be accessed right away. There are seven POI laptops in Sons of the Forest; their locations and the best order to find them are listed below.
Entertainment Bunker POI Laptop
The first POI laptop that players can get easily is near the beach spawn point. There are three locations where players will potentially land, including the beach, the mountain top, or along the river. The beach spawn point is on the northmost portion of the island and is right next to an important cave.
The cave is nestled into some rocks right off of the shoreline. The entrance is boarded, but players can use their axe to cut them down. Once inside the cave, they will see a light and supplies.
The POI laptop is on a rock behind a red crate. Interact with it to activate it, and the location of the Entertainment Bunker will show on the GPS after leaving the cave. Before exiting, players should grab the Rebreather from the cave.
Maintenance Bunker A POI Laptop
Players should grab a few key items before looking for the other POI laptops. Once they have the Rebreather, they can go after the Rope Gun. The Rope Gun is used to travel across zip lines and to create new ones.
The next item to find is the Shovel, located in a cave on the west side near the foot of the snowy mountain. Luckily, the Shovel is in the same cave as the Maintenance Bunker A POI laptop. The cave starts with players riding across a zip line to a section of open water. Many mutants are inside the cave, so be ready for a fight.
Jump into the water and equip the Rebreather to swim deeper into the cave. Once players resurface, they can follow the cave straight back to find the POI laptop and Shovel. Players will come across the laptop before they make it to the Shovel.
Go past the two soldiers next to the light and follow the cave to another open area with a light in the middle. The Maintenance Bunker A POI laptop is beside a dead soldier near the light.
Food and Dining Bunker POI Laptop
Players can find the Food and Dining Bunker POI laptop with the Shovel. The laptop is inside Maintenance Bunker A, which will be highlighted on the GPS. Maintenance Bunker A is found at a digsite on the island's northwest side.
The ground above the entrance will have loose dirt, and the shovel icon will appear. Players can dig to get rid of the dirt, but they must stay cautious of nearby cannibals from the large camps in the vicinity. Whenever all the dirt is cleared, climb down inside.
The bunker is small, with only one hallway and two rooms inside. The Food and Dining Bunker POI laptop is in the first room on the right, on a table next to the kitchen. Players should also pick up the keycard on the desk next to the 3D Printer, as they will need it to access the other laptops.
Residential Bunker POI Laptop
Players should head to the Food and Dining Bunker marked on their GPS for the next laptop. This bunker can be accessed without digging, but the entrance is inside a cave. The cave is northwest of Maintenance Bunker A near a large lake.
The entrance to the cave is inside a large rock with two broken-down golf carts in front of it. Once inside, players can follow the path down until they see a hatch with the words Food and Dining across the front. The ladder leads to an abandoned kitchen area with a locked door that needs the Maintenance Keycard to open.
Players must pass through hydroponic gardens in the following few rooms. Eventually, the rooms become flooded as players go deeper into the bunker. Swim all the way back to a hallway with an open door on the left and a set of stairs at the end.
Go inside the door on the left and follow the hall into a security room. The Residential Bunker POI laptop is on a desk next to some monitors.
Players can also pick up Virginia's keycard, which unlocks the doors at the end of the flooded hallway. There is a boss fight in this room against the Pufftons.
Maintenance Bunker B POI Laptop
The next POI laptop is inside the Entertainment Bunker. This bunker will appear on the GPS as a green dot if players find the POI laptop for it at the beginning of the game. It is near the west beach along a small river. Players will know they are close whenever they see a broken-down golf cart near the cave entrance.
After entering the cave, players will see a small room with a 3D Printer, a sleeping cot, and some supplies. If they go left down the hall, they can squeeze through a small opening in the wall that leads to a well-lit, modern hallway area with a set of doors at the end.
The Maintenance Keycard can be used to open them. There's a gym and resort area inside the next room. Several mutants are inside, so players should have heavy weapons and medicine on hand. Players must go deeper into the bunker until they pass by the spa's front desk and find a winding staircase.
Then, they can go up the stairs to the pool bar. At the back of the pool bar is an open lounge room with bodies strewn about. Players can also pick up the guitar from the bar and the final keycard from the booths towards the back.
This keycard is needed to get access to the POI laptop. Players must go back to the bar area and find the locked door. Use the keyboard just picked up to go inside, and the POI laptop is sitting on a table next to a printed email. It reveals the location of Maintenance Bunker B.
Maintenance Bunker C POI Laptop
Players will find the Maintenance Bunker C POI laptop inside Maintenance Bunker B. However, this is easier said than done because the bunker is underneath an active cannibal camp. The camp is on the island's southwest side near a small pond.
Like Maintenance Bunker A, players must dig up the door with their Shovel. Clearing out the cannibal camp first is the best way to approach this. The inside of the bunker looks similar to the other Maintenance Bunkers, with an apartment and a storage room.
The POI Laptop is in the apartment on top of a table. This laptop reveals the location of the final Maintenance Bunker, which is where the Revolver is found. Players can also pick up the Compound Bow in the back bathroom of Maintenance Bunker B.
Luxury Bunker POI Laptop
The final POI laptop is found in the Residential Bunker on the island's southeast side. Players must either go over the mountain or around to find it. The bunker entrance is nestled into a large rock on the west side of a lake. When they go inside, players move downward until they see a hole in the bottom of the cave that leads to a room.
Crouch to go through the hole and then go downstairs. There is another set of stairs next to the dead construction worker that players must also go down. Then, take the door on the left, which will trigger a significant cutscene. Once the scene ends, continue down the halls deeper into the bunker.
Players will encounter several mutants along the way but keep moving forward to the staircase to Level 2. Level 2 is set up like Level 1, with two rooms in each corridor. Players must go to the second corridor and find the furthest back room with the slime all over it.
The laptop is sitting on the desk in the back next to a monitor with some storyline hints. There is also a Space Suit that players can equip or give to Kelvin to wear.
