While stranded on an island in Sons of the Forest, players will find several key items to assist them on their journey. Most of the key items are located in caves, underground bunkers, or cannibal camps, although some exceptions exist. A particularly helpful piece of equipment players can get early on is the Night Vision Goggles. They are perfect for exploring dark caves and can be used at night. So, here's where to find Night Vision Goggles and how to use them in Sons of the Forest.

Night Vision Goggles Location in Sons of the Forest

Sons of The Forest

The Night Vision Goggles were added in patch 03. They can be grabbed at any point in a play, and no other items are needed to get them. Players will find the Night Vision Goggles inside the cultist cave on the south side of the forest.

The cave entrance is right next to a large river that goes all the way to one of the southern beaches. Players can get there quicker using a Knight V or Golf Cart if they come across one. They can also use the rope gun and make zip lines if they've found it. The cave entrance is hidden in a rock face off the water's edge.

The cave goes deep underground, but the Night Vision Goggles are near the entrance. Next to a water tunnel is a chair with a skeleton sitting in it. This skeleton is wearing the Night Vision Goggles; players can take them right off it.

They can then be accessed at any time from the inventory. If players have the Rebreather, they can dive into the water tunnel and find the Gold Armor inside the cultist cave. However, the cave is full of mutants, so make sure to have a strong weapon and lots of food and drink before going further.

How to Use the Night Vision Goggles

Sons of The Forest

The Night Vision Goggles can be equipped while inside the inventory. While wearing them, players can toggle them on and off by hitting the "L" key. They do use batteries, so use them sparingly to avoid running out while inside caves. The battery meter is in the top right corner while players wear it.

Other options for seeing in the dark in Sons of the Forest include a small lighter or the Flashlight. The lighter comes inside the starting emergency pack and is inexhaustible. On the other hand, the Flashlight must be picked up from a fallen comrade and is a better light source, but it also uses batteries. Another option is to use a torch if players have the materials to craft one.

Sons of the Forest is out now in early access for PC.
