Sons of the Forest is a terrifying, sci-fi survivalist game that builds upon the world of The Forest with new lore. Players are stranded on a remote island and must survive against nature and the cannibalistic locals. Altercations with the cannibals and mutants in the forest are unavoidable but become a problem quickly if not managed.
Players will want to build a few bases around the island where they can sleep, garden, or store food and resources. However, the cannibals in Sons of the Forest get territorial and will stage attacks on structures and camps. Players can defend their bases by building a Silent Alarm from radios to warn them against approaching enemies.
How to Build a Radio Alarm Trap in Sons of the Forest
There are several trap options that players can build using their Survivalist Handbook. The handbook contains various blueprints and build shells that can be placed. Build materials include things found around the island, such as sticks, logs, rocks, tape, wire, etc.
Traps can be used to kill or harm cannibals, depending on what kind players use. The radio alarm trap, known as the Silent Alarm in the handbook, is a non-lethal trap that will start playing music when an enemy touches it. This will also distract the enemy for a short amount of time. This is very useful, especially at night, whenever cannibals attack.
The Silent Alarm trap is a pre-built structure inside the handbook. Click "B" to pull up the handbook and flip through the tabs to find it. Players may need to switch modes if they don't see it. See below for a complete list of the radio alarm materials:
- One wire
- Eight bones
- One radio
- One rock
- One skull
- 13 sticks
Wire is found inside crates found in caves or abandoned campsites. It is also located inside most underground bunkers. Players will usually be able to pick up a radio from campsites, too.
There are approximately 14 radios on the island. Only one radio at a time can be inside the inventory, so players will need to collect them one by one.
Bones and skulls may be found, but players are better off attacking cannibals and burning their bodies to harvest bones. They can build bone storage racks from sticks when their inventory gets full. Sticks are the easiest to find since they're all over the forest, and Kelvin can be commanded to pick them up.
