Four complete seasons change the gameplay and visuals in Sons of the Forest. Players will have physical reactions to weather and climate that can be combated by changing clothes. As the predecessor to one of the most popular survival games, players will experience a terrifying adventure stranded on a cannibal and mutant-infested island. Sons of the Forest 1.0 included a sickness system, voice acting, and new cutscenes. Additionally, many key items, including the Winter Jacket, were relocated. So, players can use this updated guide to find the Winter Jacket's new location in Sons of the Forest.
Winter Jacket Location
The Winter Jacket is one of the few essential items not marked on the GPS in any way or form. The Winter Jacket is on the island's north side on the golf course. It could take a while to walk there, depending on where players spawn, but the beach and mountain locations are the closest.
Players will know they are close to the right place when they see golf cart symbols on the GPS and golf course flags. Near one of the golf cart symbols, there's a dead mutant propped up and another on the ground in front of a large gray tent. The Winter Jacket is inside the tent next to arrow supplies. Players can hold down "E" to put the Winter Jacket on immediately or click "E" to add it to inventory for later. There are also some supply crates and items spread around the campsite.
Players can find various vehicles and equipment to make the journey faster such as a hang glider or golf cart. The cannibals on the island are hostile and will attack if stumbled upon, so stay alert and maintain stamina. Drinking water, eating food, and sleeping will keep you in tip-top shape. Water from the rivers and ponds must be boiled before it is safe for consumption.

Cannibal camps can be spotted from a distance due to the smoke coming off their fires and hunting parties traveling near rivers. Players may have to run or fight out of situations, and the melee weapons use a lot of stamina. Projectile weapons such as the Crossbow and firearms are much more effective against the larger cannibal variants.
How to Survive Winter
Players are most vulnerable to the climate during winter or on the mountain. They are almost constantly cold and wet, which lessens their stamina maximum and makes stamina deplete faster. Other clothing, like the Hoodie, will help a little, but it isn't as effective as the Winter Jacket.
Players can give clothes to Kelvin and Virginia to change their outfits as well, although the weather doesn't affect them.
The Winter Jacket makes a huge difference, but other ways exist to combat the cold. Whenever players get too cold, they will receive a pop-up saying, "You are Cold and Wet." A light blue bar going the opposite way will fill their stamina meter. They will also notice ice closing in on their vision and start trembling.
Using sticks to build a fire on the ground will stop this process in its tracks. Players can build a bonfire using logs to keep the fire going longer, and money and leaves can be added to keep it burning. If players are on the move, they can use the crafting station in their inventory to build a torch using a cloth and stick. Torches stay lit in the rain or snow, so they are a great alternative until players can get the Winter Jacket. The biggest downside is not being able to hold a weapon and a torch at the same time.
