Players will need to scrounge the woods and hunt for animals or uncover supplies from the bodies of unlucky adventurers.

Those looking for something more sustainable might stumble across Cat Food during their adventure, which acts as one of the best food sources in the game. Unfortunately, players need a Can Opener if they want to access the life-saving nutrients inside. Here's where players can find the Can Opener in Sons of the Forest.
Where To Get The Can Opener In Sons Of The Forest
Players can actually snag the Can Opener as soon as they start the game, but it's a bit of a trek to reach it depending on where players spawn. The Can Opener can be found near an old encampment of tents near an iced-over cave at the foot of the tall mountain that sits at the center of the island. Players should head to the cave marker on the map above, climbing up the mountain path wherever they can until they reach a small ice-covered lake with a few abandoned tents scattered around. The Can Opener itself is lying in the snow near the tent farthest from the cave entrance. The small object can be spotted on the ground directly to the left of the tent if players are looking at the opening.
What Does The Can Opener Do In Sons Of The Forest?
Once players have the Can Opener in hand, they'll be able to access one of the best food sources in all of Sons of the Forest. Sometimes, players will come across tall metal cans of Cat Food. One of these cans can be found laying on the iced-over lake near a snow sled in the same area where players find the Can Opener itself. These cans of Cat Food will fill a player's hunger meter and don't have any negative effects on things like thirst. Best of all, the canned food won't spoil, making it ideal for storing in a base or packing for an adventure into the caves.
To open the Cat Food, players will need to combine it with the Can Opener in their inventory (the Can Opener is located left of the main square in the inventory screen). Once the can is open, players can then interact with the blob of food to eat it, or set it to the side of their inventory, out of the can, to consume later.
