Everyone has their favorite Mortal Kombat 1 character, and renowned esports player SonicFox has just revealed which playable warrior they will prefer to use during competitions. Dominique "SonicFox" McLean has gained a fair bit of fame in the professional fighting game circuit due to their ability to adapt to virtually any new game quickly, be it Mortal Kombat 11 or Dragon Ball FighterZ. They have competed in no less than five EVO Championship tournaments during their career, and was even named Esports Player of the Year at The Game Awards 2018.

It is no surprise then that SonicFox has weighed in on the Mortal Kombat characters they play as, having ranked and re-ranked Mortal Kombat 11’s roster no less than four times since it launched in April 2019. Their preferred character to use in that particular entry alternated frequently during that time, with fighters like Sonya Blade, Geras, Johnny Cage often taking the top spot in their Mortal Kombat 11 tier lists. Now that NetherRealm has kicked off a new era with the recently released Mortal Kombat 1, SonicFox’s fans are naturally curious to see which Kombatant they will take with them on the battlefield during the next big esports tournament.

The actor of Homelander from The Boys TV show has some bad news regarding the character's appearance as DLC in Mortal Kombat 1.

SonicFox answered that question on Twitter earlier this week, revealing that Sindel is their preferred Mortal Kombat 1 main. They state that they were in “such a bad character crisis” before getting to play as Sindel and seeing how “broken” she is in battle, even going as far as to compare her to Mortal Kombat 11’s Jade. Some Twitter users have since argued this point and playfully worry that NetherRelam will nerf Sindel after reading about how overpowered SonicFox thinks she is, while other Sindel fans are happy that SonicFox has embraced the queen of Outworld as their go-to Mortal Kombat 1 character.

SonicFox isn’t the only Mortal Kombat 1 player with a preference for Sindel, as she has been shown to be a quite formidable Kombatant thanks to her long-range hair attacks and sonic scream blasts that benefit players who wish to dominate their foes from a distance. Story-wise, fans have embraced Mortal Kombat 1 undoing the previous game’s controversial Sindel retcon that depicted her as a willing participant and partner of Shao Khan, instead showing her as a benevolent ruler of Outworld who will go to any lengths to protect her daughters and kingdom.

It looks like the Mortal Kombat 1 version of Sindel has won over another fan in SonicFox, who says that she is their warrior of choice while playing NetherRealm’s latest epic fighting game. Esports viewers are likely looking forward to watching SonicFox hit the field using Sindel’s zoning attacks and grizzly Fatalities during the next EVO championship or designated Mortal Kombat 1 tournament – even if their opinion on the game’s packed roster changes after a few patches, updates, and DLC additions.
