In just a matter of days, fans will finally be able to see the likes of Jim Carrey and James Marsden on the big screen in the highly-anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Additionally, they will have a chance to hear Ben Schwartz lend his vocal talents to the lovable blue hedgehog himself, and the actor, who is known for his recurring role in the sitcom Parks andRecreation, recently sat down to talk about his favorite Sonic the Hedgehog games and more.

In an interview with IGN, Schwartz indicated that the original Sonic the Hedgehog is "amazing" but stated that the Sega Genesis's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 stands out as his favorite in the series. While the actor did not elaborate on why this is the case, he did take a moment to talk about the game's high-level of difficulty, asking the interviewer if they have ever been able to "beat Sonic 2 without using the save function on the Genesis Mini."

The Sonic the Hedgehog actor then went on to talk about his experience with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Game Gear, a title that released for the handheld and the Master System immediately prior to the Genesis's Sonic 2. "The batteries run out in like two seconds," Schwartz said of the hardware, indicating that the Game Gear's less than stellar battery life made the experience all the more challenging.

When questioned about the Sonic Adventure games, Schwartz stated that he had not spent much time with them, nor was he extremely familiar with Amy. However, he did go on to say that he had played Sonic Mania, a game that was released in 2017 in commemoration of the series' 25th anniversary, and he emphasized his "experience" with Knuckles and Tails.

It is thus relatively safe to say that Schwartz's interests lean more heavily towards the older end of the Sonic the Hedgehog spectrum, which is where many fans' interests lie as well. While it remains to be seen if this has any real impact on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, some fans will simply be happy to know that the actor that is giving a voice to the redesigned Sonic is a fan of the series' most classic entries.

Sonic the Hedgehog premieres in theaters on February 14.
