Four new Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO sets have been announced, following up on the previous set inspired by Sonic Mania that released last year. After the fan-made LEGO Ideas set was made real and official, it's understandable why LEGO and Sega decided to continue their partnership as the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is not only popular, but it also features tons of different level environments that would make for a great variety as numerous LEGO builds.

While the previous Green Hill Zone set was aimed for older audiences and therefore had a higher difficulty level, this newer line is aimed for builders of ages eight and up. These new Sonic sets still see fans building pieces of the iconic first stage from Sonic 1, but they also include new places for Sonic's friends Amy and Tails that add diversity to the builds and a few new Sonic mini figures for fans to collect. All four are currently slated to release in August 2023.

LEGO collectors may need to start saving up for the upcoming August release as the sets range from $34.99 to $99.99 dollars, coming out to be a rounded-up $225 dollars for all four in total. These sets are known as "Sonic's Speed Sphere Challenge," "Tails' Workshop and Tornado Plane," "Amy's Animal Rescue Island," and "Sonic's Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge." An announcement trailer showcases what fans can expect from the collectibles in great detail.

The advert does a great job of featuring the special interactivity two of the sets offer, featuring a launcher fans can build that can shoot Sonic into the ramps that can be built in the two "challenge" sets. Sonic himself interrupts the trailer numerous times to have it emphasized how the sets are "awesome," before shattering the fourth wall completely before Dr. Eggman interrupts it all to complain about how he was "snubbed" out of the ad. He says that the LEGO company will pay for the disrespect before the ad finally ends.

Eggman brings up a good point, as the trailer fails to showcase the fact that the villain Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge set as a mini figure with buildable accessories that's a vast improvement compared to the original set's take on Classic Eggman. However, these Sonic LEGO sets were leaked online back in December as a set of five, when only four have been announced officially so far.

However, a LEGO Death Egg Robot can be seen when one of the loops of the sets gets a focus in the trailer, something that isn't part of a currently announced Sonic LEGO set. It seems that Dr. Eggman will get more prominent focus in the missing fifth set. Sonic the Hedgehog fans should keep their eyes peeled for future LEGO announcements to see what's coming next.
