For gamers, crossovers are often the stuff of dreams. It's always neat to see characters from two completely separate IPs have their worlds collide, and games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and even Fortnite now have become a testament to this. Recently, Halo's official social media accounts shared some Super Mario and Halo crossover fan art, and while such fan crossovers can be interesting to speculate over, some fans also make such art simply for the fun of it.

There are few video game icons as recognizable as Sonic the Hedgehog, not to mention the blue blur even celebrates a monumental 30th anniversary this year. However, perhaps more unrecognizable may be Nintendo's recent foray into a new original third-person fighting game, ARMS. Now over on Twitter, user wereshoes posted their fan art of an unlikely crossover between Sonic and the ARMS franchise.

Wereshoes' adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog as an ARMS character is arguably both creative and flawlessly executed. The fan used the iconic collectible Rings from many Sonic games as the character's extendable arms, and rather than having typical fists or gloves, Sonic's slinky-like arms instead feature the trademark Bumpers, which first appeared in the original Sonic the Hedgehog's Spring Yard Zone.

The Twitter post immediately went viral, now garnering over 12 thousand likes on the platform. The artist also took it upon themselves to give their ARMS Sonic a Werehog variant, taking inspiration from Sonic Unleashed, featuring a more edgy demeanor, beastly claws, and more thorny extendable arms. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time the Sonic series has crossed over with a Nintendo IP, as the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World featured a Yoshi's Island-inspired Zone, as well as a Legend of Zelda Zone, which also saw the hedgehog don Link's famous green cap and tunic. While fans may only be able to dream of such a neat crossover, rumors say that the blue blur's 30th anniversary may bring a remaster of Sonic Colors later this year.
