The social media manager running the Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account asks fans about what kinds of games they would like to see the series tackle in the future. The franchise itself is looking to have a very strong 2023, where plenty of Sonic the Hedgehog-related content has been put out throughout the year. There's the Sonic Frontiers updates, the premiere of the second season of Sonic Prime later this July, and even the retro throwback co-op Sonic Superstars platformer later this Fall. The social media team has been on-point this year by joining in on certain memes or trends, such as when Sonic drank the Grimace shake, or conducting interviews with the characters in its TailsTube series. Considering the manager and team behind the account are sincere Sonic fans, it's no surprise fans have been enjoying what has been posted. Social media manager Katie Chrzanowski decided to stir some discussion about what fans would like to see the blue blur try next.RELATED: Sonic the Hedgehog Trademark Suggests New Game In the WorksChrzanowski asked fans what "dream genre" they'd like to see a Sonic the Hedgehog game be created as, opening the floor to fans to input their ideas. Many replied that a Sonic fighting game would be a great genre to tackle, with fans stating that there is plenty of potential due to the diverse cast of characters. The series has tackled the fighting game genre before, such as the GBA exclusive Sonic Battle, or the aptly named Sonic the Fighters 3D fighting game that is inspired by Sega's own Fighting Vipers. Many suggested that a stylish 2D fighter like Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear Strive might fit the series best.

Other genres that was brought up by fans was an RPG or dynamic action game. Some argued that a Sonic RPG would be a good fit due to its extensive cast of characters that could be slotted into certain roles. Action games like Devil May Cry or a Sonic Musou-esque game was also a strong contender, with the latter in particular being a popular choice due to Koei Tecmo's experience with Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors. Others also just wanted to see another game where the player could raise Chao.

This tweet helped spark some healthy discussion among fans, as many were in agreement that a change in gaming genres can help bring attention to Sonic's many friends and put them in the spotlight. The franchise's social media team had a similar approach when it created the The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog visual novel, where fans loved the spotlight being given to the extended cast. While this question isn't an indicator of what genre the Sonic the Hedgehog series will try out next, it did bring fans together about what they'd like the series to try.
