The upcoming  Sonic the Hedgehog  movie received its MPA rating, and it probably turned out to be what most people expected: PG (Parental Guidance). For those unfamiliar with the MPA scale, it features five ratings that scale in this order: G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC- 17. The level of a movie's adult content determines its rating, with G suggesting none at all, and NC-17 suggesting nothing but.
RELATED: Sonic the Hedgehog Movie May Have Major Reveal The MPA gave Sonic the Hedgehog  the PG rating for the usual reasons. Audiences can expect to see action with some violence, rude humor, and brief mild language. In other words, the movie is relatively family-friendly but may have a few moments that parents might deem unsuitable for their kids to see alone. The best example of something like this would be the brief mild language mentioned. Viewers can probably expect Sonic or some other character to drop "damn," or "hell," or "crap," sometime during the film's progression. And for anyone wondering: no, the language in the Sonic movie won't escalate any more than that. So moviegoers won't be hearing Sonic, or any other characters , hurling f-bombs or anything.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/TailsChannel/status/1217245737131659264?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1217245737131659264&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcomicbook.com%2Fgaming%2F2020%2F01%2F15%2Fsonic-the-hedgehog-movie-pg-rating%2F[/EMBED_TWITTER]Some fans have pointed out the PG rating given to the movie means that a certain character probably won't be making an appearance: Rouge the Bat. As a character, Rouge sports a
somewhat controversial design that would have easily bumped the film up to PG-13 if she made it in. So unless the movie nerfs or covers up her "assets," it's likely fans won't see her in the upcoming film.On the other hand, another character might have a better chance of appearing considering the mild language warning. Shadow the Hedgehog is infamous for his edgy demeanor and use of curses. If anyone in the film would be running around and throwing out the word "damn," it would be him. shadow damn chaos emerald All in all, Sonic ending up as a PG movie makes sense. Officially, most everything related to Sonic gets aimed at kids and the now-adults that grew up with him, so the rating fits rather nicely between the G and PG-13 ratings. It also means that the movie will be able to rake in that much more money, as it doesn't restrict its audience much. This should help the film keep pace with Detective Pikachu , and maybe  start a trend of successful video game movies . Sonic the Hedgehog  races into theaters February 14, 2020.
