Among Sonic Frontiers' many collectibles, there are outfits players can get that can be used to customize Sonic to their liking. However, these accessories and costumes are only available through DLC. So far, only the Monster Hunter DLC pack is accessible to all players, as the Adventurer's Shoes and Gloves are exclusive to the digital deluxe edition, and the Sonic Adventure 2 shoes are only available through subscribing to the game's official newsletter until late January.

Luckily, more DLC has been said to be on its way to Sonic Frontiers throughout next year. This means players have a chance to get more outfits for Sonic. There's also potential for some new modes to be added to the game in the future, as well. There's a rather interesting situation that comes out of this window, though. Sonic Prime, Netflix's new Sonic TV show, releases on December 15, and the timing works out great for Frontiers to get a special themed DLC to match.

How Sonic Prime Could Tie into Sonic Frontiers

Sonic Prime has been described as "Into the Sonic-verse" by franchise fanatics. The premise of the show deals with Sonic and company attacking Dr. Eggman as he tries to obtain a new powerful gemstone known as the "Paradox Prism." In the scuffle, Sonic breaks the Prism, which causes a chain reaction that makes reality shatter. Sonic travels through new "Shatterspace" alternate realities created as a result, teaming up with different versions of his friends.

The most recent trailers for Sonic Prime see the blue hedgehog rocking new sneakers and gloves in every reality he visits. His shoes and gloves seems to change in every reality he's in with a few accessories. Sonic can be seen wearing a pirate hat in the pirate reality, for example. This could be what ties Prime into Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers' Potential Sonic Prime DLC

Sonic Frontiers Future DLC Monster hunter

Sonic Frontiers offers the most customization seen in a Sonic game in recent history. A series first, players can change the way Sonic's speed operates in the game between a set of parameters, allowing fans to enjoy Sonic Frontiers at their own personal pace. Alongside that, fans can change Sonic's shoes, gloves, and even dress him up in Rathalos armor from Monster Hunter, but none of these items can be unlocked in the base title.

Only the Monster Hunter outfits are widely available for every player, though, as the DLC pack is free to download on players' consoles of choice. Not every Sonic fan enjoys Monster Hunter, though, and this is where a Sonic Prime DLC pack could fill in an empty space. Due to the number of different shoes and gloves Sonic wears in Prime, this could lead to fans getting at least three new outfits, with the potential for more later in the show.

There's potential for Sonic Prime DLC to be more than just more outfits for the blue blur to wear, as well. There could be a special Prism Shard added to unlock some special abilities related to Prime on the skill tree, or perhaps a special level based on the strange Eggman-controlled reality that Sonic lands in when the Prism Shard first breaks. It's hard to say just what fans might get out of some tie-in DLC, as Frontiers DLC at this point has been relatively small in scope.

This is only if Sega decides to release tie-in DLC to connect the franchise's most recent releases, however. There's been no words of Sonic Prime DLC for Frontiers yet, but it would be a completely missed opportunity if the company didn't with how both titles see Sonic wearing shoes and gloves he normally doesn't wear. The connection would also work well with how Sonic Team aims to create a "connected universe" across most Sonic properties.

Sonic Frontiers is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
