Sonic Frontiers has officially shared two minutes of the game's main vocal theme. This serves as a follow-up to how Sega released the ending theme of the game just a few days ago, which helps fans get a look at how the game will sound after months of vague ambient music during showcases. The song is showcased in a lyric video with text layered over cinematics and gameplay from previous Sonic Frontiers trailers.

The main theme is titled "I'm Here," it and was a collaborative effort between the lead composer of Sonic Frontiers, Tomoya Ohtani, and the vocalist of To Octavia, Merry Kirk-Holmes. To Octavia is an Australian metal band, and Merry Kirk-Holmes is credited as the song's lyricist as well. Tomoya Ohtani, however, is a rather prominent Sonic composer who's worked on the series since Sonic Adventure 2.

This song was the one that was heard in Japanese commercials made to promote Sonic Frontiers alongside the theatrical release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in Japan. It lines up with what's known of the game's plot rather well, as it features lyrics about seeing "a new world worth fighting for" and finding the "truth of who I'm meant to become." These lyrics might deal with how the Starfall Islands are a completely new part of Sonic's world that has a vastly different landscape to what fans have seen before, and how the game's Cyber Space stages deal with Sonic's memories that may mean he's lost parts of himself due to an event at the start of Frontiers' story.

Unlike Sonic Frontiers' ending theme, which was fully revealed by the band who helped create the song, currently only a preview of "I'm Here" was shared. Fans can most likely look forward to hearing the full song when the game launches in two months. According to a tweet by the social media manager for the series, the preview of the main theme was posted in order to celebrate the fact that Sonic Frontiers releases in exactly two months as of now.

The choice of using the vocalist of a metal band for the main theme of Sonic Frontiers is certainly an interesting one as To Octavia's inclusion marks the first time Sonic the Hedgehog's soundtrack has truly delved into the genre. While Sonic and the Black Knight featured "With Me," a song by Crush 40 that had undertones of metal music, it still held true to the rock music that it's known for. Combined with how the game's ending theme has its own explicit version made by the band responsible for it, Sonic Frontiers is turning out to have quite the interesting soundtrack.

Sonic Frontiers will launch on November 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
