Table of contents

Sonic Frontiers is a massive, open-world game with a lot of content and tons of different kinds of puzzles. Players have to move from Starfall Island map to Starfall Island map as Sonic, solving puzzles, gaining collectibles, and helping each one of his trapped friends to escape their digital cages.

The first island, Kronos, has a ton of starter puzzles, but the second island is where these puzzles start to get really difficult. This island, called Ares island, is home to Knuckles' digital ghost as well as the very challenging tile puzzle number M-046.

The Location of M-046 in Sonic Frontier

The puzzle is located in central Ares Island, southeast of the location where Sonic will need to Drain the Water in Sonic Frontiers. This is one of the many tiled puzzles out in the world.

The way that tiled puzzles work is that Sonic will start the puzzle on the yellow, glowing spot. He has to move through all of the glowing blue tiles without stepping on the same one twice and without stepping off of the board or jumping. Players will have to find the paths around several of these throughout the length of Sonic Frontiers, and these will progressively get harder as the game continues.

The Solution to the Tile Puzzle Number M-046

In order to get around the tiles of M-046, players will need to follow this route:

  • Head down one from the starting tile, then to the right two tiles.
  • Up one tile
  • Left one tile
  • Up one tile
  • Left one tile
  • Up two tiles
  • Right one tile
  • Up one tile
  • Right three tiles
  • Down four tiles
  • Left one tile
  • Up one tile
  • Left one tile
  • Up one tile

This will cover all the tiles in this Sonic Frontiers puzzle without overlapping any or having to walk off of the board. Once players walk around in that pattern, it will unlock that portion of the local map, giving Sonic even more key places to head to on his journey to save every one of his friends.

Players will continue to have to tackle these tile puzzles for themselves for most of the rest of the game, all the way across the five Starfell Islands: Kronos, Ares, Chaos, Ouranos, and the infamously out-of-place Rhea Island of Sonic Frontiers. So hopefully this guide will help Sonic fans to get through this puzzle and the many others like it that fill the massive map of Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
