Sonic Frontiers has many challenges and collectibles for players to seek out over its huge open-world islands. Taking on one of the map challenges will handily reveal sections of the map once they are complete, making fast travel and exploration much easier. As well as the open-world puzzles, Sonic Frontiers also has portals across each area.
These portals can be used once a portal gear is collected via defeating an enemy or finding one hidden and inserting it into the portal. Each of these contains either a 3D or 2D Sonic level and comes with challenges that can be completed to get rewarded with vault keys. Most portals are easily accessible by standard exploration, however, some of them may take some puzzle-solving to get to.
How to Get to Portal 1-7 on Kronos Island
Portal 1-7 on Kronos Island is located on the southwest section of the map. Sitting on a plateau separate from the mainland, players may be wondering how to reach the stage.
Step One
Head to this location on the map first.
Step Two
Approach the three switches down from the Hermit Koco.
Step Three
Activate all three switches, then head to the stone switch close to the edge and activate this also.
Step Four
This will now have spawned a grind rail that can be used to travel to the rock next to where portal 1-7 is. Jump on the grind rail to head over to the next part of the puzzle.
Step Five
Now on the rock at the end of the grind rail, the two switches here must also be activated, followed again by the stone switch. This will spawn a new grind rail coming over from the rock portal 1-7 is on.
Step Six
Use the first grind rail to head back over to the mainland, but jump off to the left just before the end, onto the new grind rail to reach portal 1-7.
Avoid the spring next to the grind rail; while this may seem the obvious way to get back, the second grind rail can only be reached by jumping off of the first one.
Step Seven
Stand on this switch in front of the portal to unlock a new spring on the small column that is next to the first set of switches. This will allow Sonic to use the spring to return to portal 1-7 instead of having to repeat the puzzle and grind rail maneuvering.
Sonic Frontiers is out now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
