Sonic Frontiers features several pieces of cosmetic DLC at the time of writing, ranging from his classic Sonic Adventure Soap Shoes to some Monster Hunter armor courtesy of a crossover. Changing Sonic's appearance is thankfully pretty straightforward, as this guide will explain.

Sonic Frontiers is an open-world adventure game in which Sonic journeys across the Starfall Islands to rescue his friends from their imprisonment in Cyberspace while dealing with the mysterious AI "Sage." The game combines the iconic boost formula with a variety of skills both new and old across five islands and 30 Cyberspace stages.

Changing up Sonic's appearance is a pretty straightforward procedure, though it can't be done during gameplay and must instead be handled from the title screen. If the player has a piece of cosmetic DLC for the game installed, it can be accessed from the Extras menu on the title screen. Simply select Extras, and toggle the desired piece of DLC on.

The first piece of cosmetic DLC available is the Soap Shoes, which are Sonic's iconic rail grinding shoes from Sonic Adventure 2. These can be acquired from the game's official website as a reward for signing up for the newsletter, and the necessary code is emailed to the player once they've signed up successfully. There is an option to choose which platform to receive a code for when signing up for the newsletter, so players should make sure to select the correct console so they can use this DLC.

The second piece of cosmetic DLC available is the Monster Hunter DLC, which had just been released at the time of writing and can be downloaded for free on all platforms. It allows Sonic to don Rathalos armor from Monster Hunter or the Felyne Rathalos armor as an alternative option while also adding a grilling minigame reminiscent of cooking mid-hunt in Monster Hunter. This is a collaboration with Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise and released on the 14th of December 2022.

It is worth noting that another set of cosmetic DLC exists, though it is currently only available in Japan via collaboration with several Japanese stores. This DLC is a collaboration with V-tuber Korone Inugami, and depending on the specific retailer, different cosmetic changes to the game can be acquired. These include a design change to the Koco, new gloves and shoes for Sonic, and sound effect replacer options.

Sonic Frontiers is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
