Before the launch of Sonic Frontiers' DLC, Sega has released one last trailer regarding the Final Horizon update, showing off gameplay from all three of its new playable characters, Amy, Tails, and Knuckles. Sonic Frontiers' Final Horizon update marks the end of the game's post-launch content, promising quite a lot of things that fans wanted. This includes a set of brand-new playable characters, along with an entirely new story that will possibly change the ending and final boss of the game.

This update takes place before the fight with the Supreme Titan on Ouranos Island, where Sage and Sonic have worked out a plan in order to turn the Cyber Corruption's energy into a new power. In the meantime, Sonic tasks his three friends in exploring the island and gathering the seven Chaos Emeralds. While the teaser trailer for Sonic Frontiers' last update was light on gameplay, this trailer shows off how these three highly anticipated characters will play.

The trailer focuses on all three of Sonic's friends and their movesets in the update, all of them being able to fight various guardians that they come across on Ouranos Island. Amy Rose has her signature hammer, but now has some more magical girl inspired elements added thanks to her fortunetelling tarot cards. These were a forgotten aspect of Amy's that is now coming back to the forefront, where she can use these cards in tandem with her hammer to traverse the island or fight enemies. She can even ride her hammer like it's a witch's broomstick while her tarot cards form a wheel that can run down any enemies in front of her.

Following Amy's gameplay is Tails', where he seems to have a combination of various gameplay styles from past entries. He can fly around using his two tails like in previous games, but now has access to a variety of gadgets and projectiles that can help him fight. Not only that, he can also summon the Cyclone, a mecha that was the basis of Tails' levels in Sonic Adventure 2.

Knuckles is the last one to be featured in the trailer, where his gameplay in Sonic Frontiers is also based on his playable incarnation from the Adventure games. This includes his brawler-heavy moveset, where he can punch his way through the game's various enemies. Sega also confirms that the update will drop tonight at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST.

Sonic Frontiers is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
