The Batman: Arkham Trilogy collection is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch and Rocksteady Studios now has a release date for fans anxious to play. The three games included in the collection, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight, are beloved action games that have heavily influenced the genre. Having all three games on Nintendo Switch may not be a massive release, but Switch owners will undoubtedly be appreciative to have Batman: Arkham Trilogy.

Batman: Arkham Asylum first launched in 2009 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The action game received exceptional reviews, not just for its combo-based action combat but also for its compelling story. It was nominated for and won multiple Game of the Year awards for 2009, as a result. Batman: Arkham City arrived in 2011 expanding into a full-fledged open-world. And Arkham Knight concluded the trilogy in 2015. All three games have since been released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Nintendo Switch will soon be added to the list of platforms that the Batman: Arkham Trilogy is supported on. Rocksteady Studios announced on Twitter Tuesday morning that Batman: Arkham Trilogy will be released on Switch starting October 13. The trio of games is currently available for pre-order across major retailers for a listed price of $59.99.

The Batman: Arkham Trilogy collection will feature all three Rocksteady games as well as each game's DLC. Batman: Arkham Asylum included DLC allowing the Joker to be played in Challenge Maps, as well as stealth challenge Insane Night and Prey in the Darkness packs. Arkham City featured Catwoman, Nightwing, and Robin DLC packs, a variety of skins and challenge maps, and the Harley Quinn's Revenge campaign expansion. Arkham Knight was packed with DLC, including story content like Scarecrow Nightmare, Batgirl: A Matter of Family, GCPD Lockdown, and Catwoman's Revenge, plus an entire Season of Infamy with new villain missions, and much more.

The Switch port for Batman: Arkham Trilogy was first announced in June with a good amount of excitement. At the time, it was confirmed that Rocksteady itself wouldn't be handling the port. It's busy working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, after all. The port developer is Turn Me Up Games, which has worked on Switch ports for It Takes Two, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, Borderlands: Legendary Collection, and other titles in the past.

It's strange to think that Rocksteady's Batman trilogy started fourteen years ago now, and is continuing to be released on new platforms. That just goes to show what a legacy the Batman Arkham games have had. Many fans may even wish that Rocksteady was working on a new Batman game instead of Suicide Squad. There's always the opportunity for that in the future, of course. First comes the Switch ports.

Batman: Arkham Trilogy releases on Switch on October 13.
