Nothing is worse than starting up SnowRunner and getting in a powerful truck, only to find it just can't do what players need it to do. This is where players typically change vehicles in favor of a Scout. They are quick, versatile, and can handle whatever players throw at them. Among the choices in SnowRunner, some are much better than others.

Updated on June 20th, 2023 by John Cunningham: SnowRunner has quickly established itself as the premier off-road driving simulator, taking players on adrenaline-pumping adventures through treacherous terrains and hazardous weather conditions. Developed by Saber Interactive and released by Focus Home Interactive in 2020, the game offers a one-of-a-kind, high-octane off-road thrill ride for players.

Initially unveiled as the sequel to MudRunner, SnowRunner quickly established itself as its own impressive gaming entity upon release. Equipped with an array of powerful trucks and vehicles, players must navigate treacherous mud, snow, and ice, while completing challenging missions and overcoming obstacles. The game's jaw-dropping graphics, comprehensive physics, and inventive weather system create an immersively challenging environment for players to get through. Whether it's crossing frozen lakes or traversing muddy tracks, SnowRunner will put gamers' driving skills and quick thinking to the test throughout.

8 Tayga 6436 Is Tailor-Made For Tough Terrains

SnowRunner: Tayga 6436

The Russian-manufactured Tayga 6436 is a perfect fit for many of SnowRunner's gruelingly challenging environments. Built predominantly to handle rough terrains, it's not the fastest scout on offer but it is one of the most durable.

Boasting massive wheels and a powerful engine, the Tayga is a reliable scout for players' snowy adventures. This 6x6, off-road heavy vehicle was initially put together for the army, something it has in common with many of the other Eastern Bloc vehicles on offer. While it's not ideal when it comes to fuel consumption, the Tayga's impressive powertrain and respectable gearbox ensure it has plenty of positive traits for players to put to good use. Overall, it's a strong scout that can blitz through challenging environments at an even pace.

7 Voron AE-4380 Is An Old School Logistics Juggernaut

Voron AE4380

A well-rounded vehicle, the Voron AE-4380 is a formidable scout thanks to its impressive combination of power, maneuverability, and stability. The Voron's power-to-weight ratio stands out as being one of the absolute best on offer.

Unfortunately, the Voron is not hugely efficient when it comes to fuel consumption which hampers its otherwise rock-solid durability. A 6x6 logistics truck, the Voron's military background helped ensure it was developed for a variety of terrains and tasks. The versatile vehicle is well-equipped for off-road traveling, ensuring players have a relatively safe journey over often-perilous terrain. Despite its fuel-use issues, this old school, multi-purpose truck's versatility makes it among the handiest off-road powerhouses on offer for players as they scout their way through snowy mayhem.

6 TUZ 420 Tatarin Is A Powerful, Versatile Fuel-Chugger

TUZ 420 Tatarin in the marsh

The overall best scout in SnowRunner will of course depend heavily on the player's strengths and weaknesses and, even more importantly, what they intend to use it for. No matter what that use is, the TUZ 420 Tatarin is a fantastic choice due to its diverse array of strengths.

Sporting fantastic power, great durability, and enough weight to keep those tires where they're meant to be, the TUZ 420 is a no-nonsense powerhouse that keeps players on track when traveling through troublesome terrain. Aesthetically, it's an impressive piece of vehicular design with an intriguing amphibious vibe. The key flaw with this Scout is the fact that its fuel consumption just doesn't hold up, especially when compared to the many less wasteful vehicles players can rely on. If players want their vehicle to go far, they may need to choose another Scout.

5 YAR 87

YAR 87 in the snow

With a bit more of a traditional Jeep style, SnowRunner's YAR 87 is the classic Scout that does the job well and rarely has any problems. It's a jack-of-all-trades kind of vehicle that is consistently reliable whilst being relatively unremarkable overall.

The YAR 87 has decent power and can switch to being an all-wheel drive, which can be extremely beneficial when the player is in a tricky situation. The fuel consumption is the best aspect of this vehicle, and players will find themselves being able to go long distance with little concern, making this one of the most efficient vehicles on offer. However, considering it lacks the considerable power of the TUZ or the Hummer, the supremely durable YAR 87 is a hit-and-miss ride overall.

4 The International Loadstar 1700 Is One Of The Most Powerful Trucks On Offer

International Loadstar 1700

When looking into getting a Scout, SnowRunner players will need to consider a variety of aspects. Do they want it to have the speed, the power, or the ability to just keep going through long journeys? If power and speed are the highest priorities, then very few will live up to the International Loadstar 1700.

It's a popular vehicle for a reason, and is considered one of the most powerful Scouts in the game. Its elite-level power ensures players have a fantastically effective vehicle at their disposal. The downside of the Loadstar is its inefficient fuel-guzzling and questionable durability. These setbacks prevent it from reaching its full potential as the ultimate Scout vehicle. Regardless, this utility truck's tough, off-road capabilities make it a trusty vehicle for a variety of grueling rides.

3 Scout 800 Is A Durable, Smooth Ride

Scout 800

SnowRunner's Scouts are designed to be able to go a long way without breaking, getting stuck, or running out of fuel. As the name suggests, they're used to scout the landscape before bringing in a big truck to carry the heavy loads.

With this in mind, players are often not looking for power or weight in their smaller vehicles. Most of the time, they are looking for some good fuel consumption and something that brings a bit of enjoyment when exploring. The Scout 800 is exactly that. It's a smaller vehicle that looks like it might not be capable of these treacherous roads, but it can handle anything. It's quick, nimble, and will bounce around endlessly. The key reason it is so durable over a long distance is the fantastic fuel consumption that almost makes up for the overall smaller fuel capacity.

2 The Chevrolet CK1500 Is A Versatile, Well-Rounded Vehicle

Chevrolet CK1500

The Chevrolet CK1500 is the basic pick-up truck style Scout. It's classic, reliable, and is a fantastic vehicle for pretty much anywhere in SnowRunner. This is primarily due to its high power which can pull trucks when they are stuck.

Its pulling power proves just how much torque it truly has mand how useful it is to rescue or explore the environment. To top this all off, it also has a fantastic fuel consumption which enables players to drive a little longer than usual. However, it still doesn't have a high fuel capacity, so don't expect it to take the player all around the map with ease. Nevertheless, this is a powerful, reliable, and incredibly popular car that any player should try out, especially if they want a good upgradable vehicle with plenty of potential.

1 The Hummer H2 Is The Ultimate Off-Road Scout

Hummer H2

With designated Off-Road tires, players can drive this knowing full well it will stay close to the ground and keep the tires steady. Little can be said about the back tires however, so players still need to be careful when switching to and from AWD.

Nevertheless, this is a powerful, durable and upgradable vehicle that's perfect for any fan of SnowRunner. There are very few glaring flaws that can be highlighted in regards to this fan-favorite vehicle. Simply driving it once will allow this vehicle to speak for itself. Players will have long enough to fully work out if this is their favorite from the fantastic fuel consumption this Scout is capable of, ensuring its a good fit for long-distance driving in challenging conditions. Players can go for a long time vehicle with very few worries about either the vehicle itself or the surrounding environment.
