A new video game revolving around The Smurfs is currently in development from OSome Studio in partnership with publisher Microids. It is worth knowing that this would not be the first video game inspired by The Smurfs given that there have been numerous titles that were released in previous years for consoles and mobile devices, with the most recent being 2013's The Smurfs 2, which is based on a film of the same name.

The upcoming game will be an action-adventure title that will revolve around a brand-new story that is inspired by the adorable Smurfs from the popular comics created by the iconic cartoonist Peyo. At the moment, details about the upcoming 3D game are still being kept under wraps, but in a statement released by Elliot Grassiano, vice-president of Microids, it was mentioned that "The worldwide success met by the Smurfs will also allow us to increase our brand awareness overseas and position Microids as a major payer internationally."

Although it is still unclear whether The Smurfs video game will be releasing this year, it appears that 2020 will be seeing tons of video game adaptations from popular comics and TV shows. Last month, THQ Nordic announced that its upcoming video game called SpongeBob Square Pants: Battle for Bikini Bottom will be released on June 23 for the PC and consoles. Moreover, another adaptation of the popular show Samurai Jack is currently in the works and is slated for a Summer 2020 release.
