With the game achieving the mind-blowing milestone of becoming the most successful fighting game of all time, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is evidently an incredible achievement for Nintendo. However, a lot of that success can be attributed to the game's director, Masahiro Sakurai, who has quickly become synonymous with Nintendo's fanbase for his sensational work and passionate drive while working on the fighting game.

It seems that sense of drive extends outside of just Sakurai's work, however, with the beloved game director recently discussing his love of working out through his regular column in Weekly Famitsu. Yet, it seems the renowned director hasn't always had the most positive of experiences while attending the gym, with Sakurai urging fans to be aware of their health while exercising due to once fainting after an intense workout session.

In the article, Sakurai claims, "Working out is a pain but sure is important...health takes the most precedent over everything else." He then admits that he'd been attempting to limit his carbohydrate intake, likely leading to losing overall muscle mass as a result. In turn, it seems Sakurai's body wasn't equipped for a proper workout, with the director admitting that after going to the gym for the first time in a while, he "blacked out in the bathing area, losing consciousness for a few seconds and consequently falling down.”

While this is an incredibly unfortunate situation that Sakurai was lucky to come away from unscathed, he seems to be using it as a learning experience, urging readers to also be aware of the dangers of pushing too hard at the gym. He claims, "This bad situation was the combination of being tired and dehydrated, and that’s very dangerous and something I need to be careful of." With Sakurai's wide fanbase likely reading the article, it's great to see the director sharing safety tips he's acquired throughout his time at the gym.

Outside of anecdotes about his workout sessions, Sakurai is one of the more vocal game directors on the internet, often talking with his fans about plans for Super Smash Bros Ultimate or highlighting what he's playing in his personal life. Recently, he shared that he'd played a whopping 240 games on the PlayStation last year, while also breaking to fans that Mai Shiranui wouldn't be in Super Smash Bros Ultimate in an absolutely hilarious way. It's good to hear that Sakurai's terrifying accident at the gym wasn't serious and that the lovable game director has learned to take it a bit easier when going for an intense workout.
