Slime Rancher 2 is a world of wonders and slimes for fans to explore. While farming slimes is a massive part of the experience, traveling and researching are too. Rainbow Island has secrets for players to discover all around the island. Plort Doors are just one of these mysteries.

Plort Doors have been in the slime universe since the original title, Slime Rancher. However, the sequel does not withhold any and they are abundant in many areas of Rainbow Island. Unfortunately, there isn't much for ranchers to go on after they find them in Slime Rancher 2, so unlocking them can be frustrating without the right guidance.

What Are Plort Doors

Slime Rancher 2 Open Plort Door

Plort Doors are doorways marked with the shape of a plot in Slime Rancher 2. A statue of a slime typically accompanies them, but these statues aren't always in plain sight. Plort Doors lead to hidden areas that hold slimes, resources, or treasures for ranchers to collect. Sometimes they open up shortcuts to hard-to-reach areas or make moving around the island a little easier since players must go everywhere on foot. There are three main areas on Rainbow Island to explore:

  • Rainbow Fields
  • Ember Valley
  • Starlight Strand

Each island area has at least one Plort Door, but Starlight Strand has the most. Plort Doors are not always easily accessible, as some sit on the edge of cliffs or crooks and crannies in the mountains.

How To Open Plort Doors

While there aren't explicit instructions for how to open Plort Doors in the game, there are some hints. The slime statues around the doors are the key to unlocking them. The status is designed to look like the different slimes in the nearby areas and "eat" the coinciding slime plorts to open the doors.

All ranchers have to do is identify which slime the statue is representing and shoot those plorts into the mouth area of the statue. Players will know it has worked whenever the statue's eyes light up and glow blue, and the doorway is cleared, but it usually only takes one plort.

Farming Plorts

Slimes deposit plorts after they are fed their preferred diet. Players can look around groups of wild slimes to find plorts, but be wary in case Tarr slimes make an appearance. Ranchers also have the option of Vacking up slimes and raising them on their farms.

This is a more controlled way of gathering plorts, but finding the required plorts for Plort Doors is relatively easy. The necessary slimes tend to hang out in the areas near the door.

Slime Rancher 2 is available in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
