The Angler slime is a new slime that requires a bit of work to find. Slimes are hoppy, hungry creatures that players can collect and farm. Not only are they cute, but after slimes eat, they drop plorts that ranchers can exchange for the island currency, Newbucks. The Conservatory is perfect for setting up corrals, gardens, and more to run a lively ranch with all kinds of slimes. While some slimes are found in abundance almost immediately, others have habitats more hidden away like the Angler slime. This guide has everything players need to know to locate the fishy slimes and raise them successfully in Slime Rancher.

Where Are Angler Slimes

Angler slimes, as the name insinuates, are aquatic slimes. Blue in color, they share certain traits with the anglerfish, such as the glowing antenna light that protrudes from their head and a set of fins. Angler slimes can stun their food and other slimes with their antenna, making them tricky predators in the wild. Their stunning powers are so strong they can even stun other Angler slimes. They tend to hang out around bodies of water in the game, but these slimes aren't in Rainbow Fields. Angler slimes appear in two places on Rainbow Island:

  • Ember Valley
  • Starlight Strand

Getting to both locations isn't as easy as walking around the island, and players must take a few steps to unlock them.

Ember Valley

Slime Rancher 2 Ember Valley

Ember Valley is one of the first locations players can unlock on Rainbow Island. Its volcanic environment is its most notable trait, full of many rare resources and slimes, including the Angler slime. While traveling around, ranchers will come across giant stationary slimes called Gordos. A Pink Gordo slime on the northwestern side of Rainbow Field is the key to getting to Ember Valley. Players will need to feed the slime its preferred diet (everything and anything edible in this case) until it explodes. Once the slime is gone, a geyser shoots water that leads to a hidden cliff path with a device at the end of it. Then after interacting with the device, an iridescent light portal appears that transports directly to Ember Valley.

Angler slimes live near the caves and tunnel system at Ember Valley's heart, so head towards the volcano and find a tunnel entrance. Keep following the cave, which eventually leads to a pond with Angler slimes and a few other species.

Starlight Strand

Getting to Starlight Strand to find Angler slime is a very similar process. First, players must find the Cotton Gordo slime in the southwest zone of Rainbow Fields. The Cotton Gordo sits in front of a cave with a device that opens the portal to Starlight Strand. This slime only eats veggies, so Water Lettuce or Carrots work perfectly to make it explode. Starlight Strand has many coastlines and marshes because of the sea splitting it in half. The plant life reflects this divide as well, with one side covered in hues of blues and the other red.

Since Starlight Strand has so many coastlines, Angler slimes thrive there. They populate the tide pools throughout the area, so an up-and-down sweep guarantees to find a few.

How To Raise Angler Slimes

Slime Rancher 2 Angler Pink Largo

After Vacking up Angler slimes, ranchers can return to the Conservatory to put them into a corral. For Newbucks, they can upgrade the corrals with the Air Net, High Walls, Port Collector, Auto Feeder, and more. Angler slimes eat meat, so Hen Hens and Roostros will suffice. However, to get them to drop two plorts at a time, ranchers should feed them Sea Hens found in the wild near Angler slimes on the coasts.

Making them Largos with another slime is recommended to give them a broader diet. When a slime eats another species' plorts, they become a Largo slime and adopt physical and diet traits from the other slime. It's a good idea to equip High Walls and the Air Net to contain the larger Largos when they get rowdy. Be warned that if a Largo slime eats a third type of species plort, it will turn into a cannibalistic Tarr slime and multiply to wreak havoc on the ranch.

Slime Rancher 2 is available in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
