Players can raise slimes, discover treasures, and mine resources in Slime Rancher 2. It's a cozy sequel to the first title that brings back all the great things we love about slime ranching, plus more. Keeping slimes content is one of the main goals in the game, and some require more demanding care than others. Obtaining everything they need isn't always as simple as finding it naturally in the environment.

Slime Rancher 2 finds players on Rainbow Island, a large slime-filled paradise with new sights and things to discover. A standard gameplay aspect is feeding the slimes they keep on their ranch. While many eat everyday things like Veggies, Plants, or Meat, some want less conventional meals like Ash. Ash is not found randomly like some other resources, and players will need to create it themselves.

How To Get Ash

There is not much direction in the game regarding obtaining Ash. Players might not even think about it until they find Fire slimes. Fire slimes are native to Ember Valley, an unlockable portion of Rainbow Island. Ember Valley has a huge volcano with caves and underground geysers used for traveling. Deep within the mountains are huge lava pools with bright red slimes inside of them. After farming the fiery slimes, players are tasked with feeding them, but this is not as simple as it seems because Fire slimes only eat Ash.

Ash can only be farmed in the Conservatory. The Conservatory is the home base in Rainbow Fields. Here, ranchers regain energy, sell Plorts, farm slimes, raise chickens, and more. There are plots placed around the Conservatory that players can build on. They can build the following:

• Corral
• Garden
• Pond
• Silo
• Incinerator

The Incinerator

The Incinerator is where Ash comes from. Building it is a costly endeavor and requires Newbucks, which are the island currency earned by selling plorts at the Plort Market. Plorts are deposited by slimes when they are fed and vary in value. Therefore, one needs to spend time focusing on farming plorts to earn the needed Newbucks quickly. The Incinerator costs 450 Newbucks to place.

After placing it, ranchers will need to purchase an additional upgrade to collect Ash from it called an Ash Trough for 500 Newbucks. Ash comes from putting anything into the Incinerator to be destroyed. This includes Chickens, Veggies, and Fruits. After filling it with Ash, shoot Fire slimes into the Ash Trough, and they will drop plorts. Remember to refill it as the Fire slimes will venture outwards whenever hungry.
