The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim came out over ten years ago, but many users still play it today. A major contributing factor could be the fact that Bethesda re-released Skyrim on various platforms to help capture the attention of new fans and to encourage existing ones to play it again. Skyrim mods have also contributed to its longevity as they allow fans to experience the game in new and interesting ways.

Even though Skyrim is over ten years old, users are still finding new details about the game. One player recently pointed out a funny detail about Jarls in Skyrim, while another noticed that the Map of Dragon Burials is a rubbing of the Dragonstone from the Bleak Falls Barrow quest. A Skyrim fan recently came across one such detail about dragons in the world.

A Reddit user named always_j discovered that dragons leave footprints when they land. Always_j uploaded a screenshot of the footprint and claimed to not have any Skyrim mods installed that could leave a similar mark on the ground. They mention that dragon footprints may be hard to find on roofs or mountains, but this fight took place near Riverwood, so it was easier to see. They state that users should look for the exact spot the dragon landed to find them.

Dragons play a key role in Skyrim, in terms of both gameplay and the story. The main character is known as the Dragonborn due to their ability to absorb a dragon’s soul. Players fight several dragons throughout their quest, and they function like normal enemies or mini-bosses who are roaming the world. Such fights can occur at any moment, and it’s usually a tense encounter.

Skyrim’s dragons leave behind a skeleton after death, so it can become difficult to spot the footprints at the end of the encounter. Always_j only noticed the footprints because they were looking for a specific armor set, as the grass or ground textures otherwise hide them. Another user claims to have also noticed a dragon footprint a few weeks ago and states that it reminded them of Jurassic Park.

One player mentions that the dragons in their game never land, so they don’t get a chance to see the footprints. In this scenario, players can use the Dragonrend shout in Skyrim to force the dragon to land. Fans can acquire Dragonrend during the Alduin's Bane main quest, and it also weakens the dragon, making the fight considerably easier.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
