  • A Skyrim player encounters a strange Draugr glitch, with the enemy hovering and dancing.
  • This Restless Draugr floating in a crypt may be because of an unpatched issue.
  • Skyrim's diverse Draugr types, from Archers to Deathlords, add to the game's dynamic challenges.

A player has clipped the moment in which they discover a Skyrim Draugr moving erratically in midair. Since Skyrim was released, there have been many strange occurrences captured by the community, but this may be the weirdest one involving a Draugr.

Draugr are a common enemy in Skyrim, with players typically encountering them first in Bleak Falls Barrow. The quest to search Bleak Falls Barrow is acquired in Whiterun after gamers complete Skyrim's Helgen Keep tutorial. Players are sent to Bleak Falls Barrow by Farengar to retrieve a Dragonstone, but they may also complete another quest with the Golden Dragon Claw located in the dungeon. This area is full of Draugr, which are undead Nordic warriors that were buried in its catacombs. After being awakened by the player's presence, one Draugr has been highlighted bizarrely responding to them.

Bizarre Skyrim Clip Shows Whiterun NPC Falling From the Sky

A bizarre Skyrim clip highlights a helpful Whiterun NPC suddenly disappearing near the player before falling from the sky and landing awkwardly.

Reddit user Thedarksavant recently shared a Skyrim video focusing on an erratic Draugr in a crypt. Given the player's early-game gear, this could be in Bleak Falls Barrow or an alternate low-level area. The clip begins with the custom Skyrim Khajiit character facing the same direction as the Draugr before they turn to look at the normally hostile enemy. The Restless Draugr is floating in a corner a few feet above the ground while turning left and right in what resembles a dance. The undead creature is wielding an ax and both its arms occasionally clip through the nearby walls. Though the player could likely defeat the enemy as it moves in place, the Draugr is seemingly unable to attack the player.

Why Is This Draugr Stuck in This Position?

As there are many persistent glitches, this Draugr may be impacted by an issue that hasn't been patched yet. Given that it's called a Restless Draugr, this endless movement shows the enemy performing its namesake. Other types of Skyrim Draugr include Archers, one-handed and two-handed weapon-wielding Warriors, Warlocks, Overlords, Niche, Wight, and Dawnguard's Hulking Draugr. Beyond this, there are also Draugr Deathlords and Scourge Lords that can cause far more damage and are often equipped with Dragonborn shouts. If this Draugr had magical abilities, the animation of using one could potentially counteract the glitch keeping it in the corner.

Because Skyrim has received an update this year, it may receive one in the future that addresses glitches like this. As players may encounter hundreds of Draugr in a given playthrough, it isn't unexpected that the odd one is impacted by a glitch. There are even named NPCs that respond to players in strange ways, highlighting that this problem goes beyond hostile enemies.
