A The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim player recently shared a funny clip showing what happens when players combine the game's Paralysis and Knockback effects into a single weapon. While this isn't ordinarily possible without mods, the hilarious video reveals the absurd results of this combination.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is one of those games that doesn't need much of an introduction. Initially released in late 2011, the first-person open-world action RPG was a massive commercial success, grossing $450 million in its first week. It also had a powerful effect on the game industry and played a significant role in establishing open-world games as the standard for AAA development. Bethesda would go on to remaster and re-release Skyrim multiple times, with the most recent being the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition from November 2011. The games also stayed relevant in large part thanks to its highly active modding community.
Reddit user CausalLoop25 uploaded a 20-second clip showcasing what happens when players combine two effects that aren't supposed to go together. The Skyrim player enchanted a bow with the game's Paralysis and knockback effects, then equipped it on the follower NPC Lydia. They then punched her a few times to make Lydia attack him. Lydia then shot CasualLoop25 and sent the Paralyzed Dragonborn flying across the Solitude marketplace. Click here to see the video on Reddit.
The player was standing near the Blacksmith's shop on the terraced walkway outside Castle Dour in Skyrim's city of Solitude. Lydia's shot sent him spinning through the air high and fast enough to bounce off the bridge connecting the castle and the windmill. The Dragonborn then flew back across the marketplace, bouncing off a rooftop and landing in the well in the middle. Unfortunately, the Dragonborn's problems weren't over yet, as the still Paralyzed character rolled across the ground, bouncing off terrain objects, before finally clipping into one of the market stalls.
While Paralysis is a relatively common effect in The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, players can't normally enchant a weapon to give it the Knockback effect. This is because it's usually exclusive to the Unrelenting Force Shout rather than a normal Spell. However, some mods allow players to create enchantment with these abilities.
Unfortunately, CausalLoop25 couldn't remember exactly what mod they were using, though they recommended the Fus Ro Dah Weapons mod. Another Reddit user suggested the more expansive Summermyst - Enchantments of Skyrim. Players can download either from Nexus Mods. Regardless of which mod CausalLoop25 used, Skyrim players have a few options if they want to recreate this effect combination themselves.
