A Skyrim modder has brought a little class to the epic RPG by implementing figure skating animations, meaning players can now go pirouetting on the ice in between fighting dragons. Given that the Anniversary Edition of The Elder Scrolls 5 recently came out on Switch, there is seemingly no end to Bethesda's goal to re-release the title as much as humanly possible. Likewise, there is no end to the modding community continuing to up its game by bringing something new to the experience.

It seems that some Skyrim modders are interested in improving NPC animations, such as one from a while ago which makes it so bards actually look like they're playing their instruments. As immersive as the game is, it obviously has its flaws, which are only showing even more now that the game is well over a decade old. But while there are those who want to tweak things for an added dose of realism, there are some who just want to watch the world skate.

This is where modder James Halliday comes into the picture. As spotted by PCGamesN, this Skyrim mod, which is simply called "Figure Skating in Skyrim," does exactly what it says. The description mentions that it implements "robust figure skating animations" to the game, injecting some perhaps much-needed elegance to the world of Tamriel. The mod also comes with the appropriate attire, so players can really look the part. There have also been some flat icebergs added, as well as animations for both single and pair skating while recipes for the clothing and boots can be found at a tanning rack. Blades will also need to be forged, so they can be attached to the bottom of the boots to form the skates themselves.

While there are mods for Skyrim that improve immersion, there aren't that many that add a degree of panache to the game, but it seems like Halliday's modification will provide a great way for the Dragonborn to spend time away from fighting, either by themselves or with a partner. It also seems appropriate seeing as the Christmas season is not far off.

Skyrim is already a pretty long open-world game, with plenty of side quests and lots to see across the land to keep players engaged for hours. Taking into account all the different mods that have come about over the years, it's easy to see why people are still playing after 11 years.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
