Released in 2011, Bethesda Game Studios' Skyrim is known for its massive modding scene. The remastered version of the popular RPG, Skyrim Special Edition, has close to 70,000 different mods on Nexus Mods, which is the internet's largest mod hosting website. These mods vary in size and scope, with some mods being small scripts, while others add gigabytes' worth of new content to the game. One incredible mod has recreated the prologue area of 2000's Icewind Dale, Easthaven, in Skyrim.

This team had previously worked for years to successfully develop Skyrim Together for Skyrim.

Icewind Dale, much like Black Isle Studios' other fantasy releases, takes place in Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Created by Canadian fantasy writer Ed Greenwood, the highly popular Forgotten Realms is considered by some to be the flagship setting for Dungeons & Dragons. Some of the best Dungeons & Dragons games are set in the Forgotten Realms, like Larian Studios' hit Baldur's Gate 3 and the classic Neverwinter Nights by BioWare.
