There is so much to see and do in Skyrim that, after more than a decade, players are still finding things in the game, whether it's a trick or some hidden secret. While it may not be the biggest Elder Scrolls game in terms of map size, Skyrim still has an impressive scope. The vanilla build alone has a main quest that spans around 30 hours, not to mention all the side missions to boot. On top of that, there is a dedicated and talented modding community that is always looking for new ways to expand the world.

Uploading the file to Nexus Mods, user SkubaSteez shared "Battle Grounds - A Trial of Mundus," a custom mod for Skyrim that adds a lot of new content to the main game. As mentioned in the mod's description, this is an ongoing project. In its current state, the add-on allows players to do battle across nine arenas, which all have their own themes and a boss fight. On top of that, the mod also comes with some new spells, tools, weapons, and ammo. The only caveat is that players need to have Mihail's mods installed before using this one, and more details about that can be found on the download page.

Spells are an important part of Skyrim, and most players would not get far without a trusty weapon or two. In the case of "Battle Grounds," there is the implementation of some new arrows, a Demon Blood Katana, a new Dwarven Hammer, and a new Claymore. As for spellcasting, there are a few that sound interesting, such as a lightning strike, a healing spell, and something called Shield of Magnus. In the main game, Magnus is a deity often worshiped by the Bretons and Altmers of Tamriel. SkubaSteez has also created a short trailer which hints at what players can expect in the mod.

There are so many amazing Skyrim mods and more are being created all the time. While some, such as SkubaSteez's project, add new content, items, and lore to the game, there are others which aim to improve the overall experience, often by making quality-of-life changes or offering up bug fixes to what many would consider to be quite a glitchy game.

Given the length of time the game has been out, Skyrim players are also prone to setting absurd challenges, such as filling entire areas with wheels of cheese. It's safe to say that fans are eking as much from this installment as they can while waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, but luckily there are plenty of mods that keep things a little fresh.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
