Skyrim is one of the best-selling games of all time, but that doesn't mean it's popular with everyone, including animals, as a recent viral video has demonstrated. That applies to cats, in particular, especially when it comes to seeing Skyrim's own cat-like Khajit on screen, which just so happened to have led to some tension between a cat and the game.

The video, originally uploaded to TikTok by user megangriesemer, shows a cat's reaction to a Khajit in the character creation menu, and it isn't a friendly reception. The cat is clearly agitated by the creature on the screen, with its hair standing up and the cat appearing ready to attack. It even sniffs at the screen, trying to figure out what exactly is going on.

After about a minute, the cat sulks away, apparently calling it quits. It's an interesting reaction from the cat, as Skyrim's depiction of Khajit, despite their feline nature, still look relatively human. They're bipedal, and have the general outline of a person, just much furrier and with a tail, though that was apparently enough to get the cat's attention.

Cats have a tendency to check out the action on a screen, with videos of cats attacking rapidly moving objects surfacing fairly regularly. This clip, however, is relatively tame, though the player angling the camera to make it seem as though the Khajit is looking at the cat certainly helped create more animosity, in a humorous way.

One of Skyrim's best features is how open-ended it is, which allows for moments like this between adventures. Of course, this isn't what the game was meant for, nor was it likely even an after-thought of the developers, though it is a funny side effect. Not to mention, there are to cats in the video, one of which seems to be much more okay with the prospect of the Khajit on the screen than the first cat is.

It does seem that the cat has learned to live with the Khajit by the end of the video, even if it's a tense co-existence. Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away, so it's probably best if the two learn to get along with each other anyway, as they may still be spending quite a bit of time together before the next entry releases, though that may just lead to better-looking Khajit on the screen, which might even be worse in the end.

Skyrim is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
