An integral aspect that makes The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim such a memorable experience is the degree of user agency. Over the years, players have managed to accomplish incredible feats within the confines of Skyrim. Now, one player has escaped the beginning area of the game in an unusual way.

A common location that players tend to experiment most in is the opening area of Skyrim, Helgen. This area offers a great amount of challenge, considering that Helgen is where players are most limited in terms of interactivity. Although, that isn't to say players can't accomplish a lot in this area. One Skyrim player managed to level up to 241 before leaving Helgen, but this newest player managed to leave Helgen with their hands still bound.

A Reddit user named Beavwa somehow found a way to escape Helgen, managing to bypass the opening mission with either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. Admittedly, the user doesn't explain how they got out of Helgen, the video posted does show the player outside of Helgen with Alduin still attacking it. The player even gets knocked back from trying to re-enter Helgen through the front keep.

However, it is rather odd that the player decided to escape Helgen while still having their hands bound to begin with, considering that the player won't be able to interact with anything within the open world, due to the bindings. That said, part of the beauty of Skyrim is how much freedom the player is given to do whatever they want within the game. One player actually modeled their character after the Courier in preparation for a pacifist run of Skyrim.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how much players have managed to accomplish within Skyrim over the last decade. Very few other games have managed to persist in popularity for as long as Skyrim has. While titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 have been ported several times across multiple console generations, Skyrim has managed to accomplish what few other games have.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Elder Scrolls series going forward. Back in 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 was officially announced and yet, little to no additional news regarding the game's development has surfaced. Though, given how ambitious Skyrim ultimately is, it's likely that fans won't be seeing the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 anytime soon.
