A Skyrim player has shown off their incredible 3D renders depicting realistic versions of the game's Falmer. Skyrim is filled with enemies to defeat in combat, but the Falmer are some of the most memorable it has to offer.

With over 11 years since Skyrim's initial release, there's barely an inch of the game that hasn't been represented in fan creations over the years. One fan even decorated a room in their home based on Skyrim, with plenty of small trinkets from the game featuring. Skyrim's community has shown itself as one of the most dedicated and creative in gaming, and it doesn't seem likely to slow down any time soon. Online forums remain rife with discussion about the game, modders are still adding content to the game in record amounts, and Bethesda continues to support the game by re-releasing it on new platforms. Under these conditions, Skyrim could have plenty of gas in the tank.

The incredible Falmer renders were created by Reddit user Mandragorasprout, depicting a realistic version of the creatures that feature prominently in Skyrim's Dwarven ruins. The user claimed that a key element of the redesign was to make the Falmer look more like a "deformed elven race, rather than monstrous hybrids." There are plenty of Skyrim creature mods that change the appearance of the Falmer, although there aren't many that have as much detail as can be found here.

The Falmer have some of Skyrim's deepest lore, with one of the game's most tragic stories for players to uncover. It's a credit to Bethesda's world design that it's never explicitly spelled out for players, instead allowing gamers to discover the story of the Falmer throughout the game naturally. These renders by Mandragorasprout manage to reflect that lore, using visual details to tell the story of the Falmer's Elven history in an effective way.

Falmer-1

It remains to be seen if the Falmer will return for The Elder Scrolls 6. They provided a great adversary for Bethesda to use throughout Skyrim's dungeons, utilizing all elements of the combat triangle to provide a solid challenge, but ultimately their lore is tied up with the land of Skyrim. It would take a leap in logic for the Falmer to appear elsewhere, although anything is possible. It may be years until fans get to know for sure, with the ongoing development of The Elder Scrolls 6 seemingly never-ending.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
