The Elder Scrolls franchise is filled with hundreds of unique monster types for players to fight. From Daedra to ghosts, there is always something interesting to face. While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim reduced the variety of enemies when compared to past entries, it made up for this by making most enemy types have unique combat abilities.

No enemy shows this better than the Wispmother, one of Skyrim's rarest and most elusive foes. Believed by some to be immortal elves that have transcended their own bodies, Wispmothers are terrifying frost casters that summon Wisps to aid them in battle. For those looking for a challenge, here is where every Wispmother can be found in Skyrim. Thanks to The Elder Scrolls Wiki for much of the information on this list.

10 Labyrinthian

During the "Staff of Magnus" quest for the College of Winterhold, players will be tasked with entering the mysterious Labyrinthian. This dungeon is massive in size and consists of multiple sections. One of these areas is called the Thoroughfare, and it is here that players can encounter a Wispmother.

Once players enter the Thoroughfare, players will find a small arena with mostly flat ground. The Wispmother will be at the back of the arena, controlling the battlefield using her Wisps and various frost spells. Rush her and take her down.

9 Frostmere Crypt

Skyrim The Pale Lady fighting in quest.

"The Pale Lady" is both the name of a quest and a unique Wispmother that players can face. Head to Frostmere Crypt and reach the end of the dungeon to face a unique Wispmother. The Pale Lady has unique attributes, having 600 health and the ability to enhance her speed using a spell. This is one of the tougher Wispmother fights in Skyrim so come prepared.

8 Ruins of Rkund

Southeast of Riften is a unique collection of Dwarven ruins named the Ruins of Rkund. This set of ruins can only be accessed after the player completes the "Repentance" questline and explores Darklight Tower. Players will know they've found the right location when they suddenly see a Wispmother and her Wisps. They will be guarding the entrance to the ruins.

Following the path north of Ivarstead and taking a side path after crossing a river will eventually lead to a ruined Imperial toll booth.

Players will be visited by three neutral Wisps when they approach the location. Head up the hill to find the Wispmother near an abandoned well.

From the Shrine of Peryite in the Reach, head down the western path from the shrine to arrive at an abandoned Dwarven ruin. The Wisps and Wispmother will be patrolling the entrance to the abandoned ruin. While players can't go inside the ruin, they can take down the Wispmother and her Wisps that guard the area.

Blackreach has a Wispmother that resides near the Debate Hall. To enter Blackreach proper, players must reach the Tower of Mzark Dwarven dungeon during the "Discerning the Transmundane" quest. After this quest, players can find additional entrances at most of the Dwarven ruins throughout Skyrim.

Inside of Blackreach, travel towards the center of the zone towards a giant glowing orb. A few buildings should be near the orb, one of which is the Debate Hall. Near this area is a small stream with a few wooden boards acting as a bridge. This area will have a few Wisps patrolling it that will reveal a Wispmother near the Dwarven buildings.

4 South Skybound Watch

North of Helgen is a unique Nordic tower named South Skyband Watch. This tower acts more as an overlook for Falkreath Hold than anything else, but it is also a potential spawn location for Wispmothers.

The base of the tower has a chance to spawn Wispmothers when the player approaches. They are the only enemy that spawns here.

3 Skyborn Altar

Skyborn Altar is a dragon shrine located east of Morthal overlooking the region from a mountain. Once players reach it, they will find either a dragon or a Wispmother to fight. Those that have completed the "Dragon Rising" quest will always find a dragon here. Not completing this quest will force a Wispmother to always spawn, though. Just note that players won't have Shouts to take care of the Wispmother if they fight them this early.

2 Windhelm's Unmarked Shrine of Arkay

Northeast of Windhelm and south of Snow Veil Sanctum is an unmarked location that has a shrine of Arkay on an altar. This shrine is patrolled by none other than a Wispmother. There is nothing unique about this particular Wispmother encounter except how remote it is from the rest of Skyrim's landscapes.

1 Wispmother's Crevasse

Winterhold's region of Skyrim has a rather unique location that spawns Wispmothers. Just north of Journeyman's Nook is an ice crevasse that has a guaranteed Wispmother spawn, hence the name "Wispmother's Crevasse" that the community has given this area. Note that this location is unmarked on the map, so players will need to keep an eye out for the Wispmother's own Wisps. They typically roam near the shore.
