Skyrim is the home of the Nords, a race of Man that has roughed the harsh colds of the province to make a distinguished and ultimately non-barbaric way of life for themselves. While Skyrim has plenty of races to choose from, Nords tend to be the race players gravitate to the most – ultimately, it just feels right to play as a Nord in Skyrim.

For all the attention Nords received in Skyrim there's still much to be desired with this popular race. When it comes to playing a Stormcloak Nord specifically it just feels more immersive to have classically Nordic music playing in the background, and it feels more gratifying to take part in meaningful quests or wear Hero armor in a Stormcloak cabin.

Fanmade Nordic Exploration Music

The music of the Elder Scrolls games is just incredible, perfectly suited to the vibe of each game, and Skyrim is no exception. Jeremy Soule's music brings life to Tamriel throughout the series, but anything can start to get repetitive if you hear it often enough, even iconic songs like "Secunda" or the Dragonborn fight song. That's where the Fanmade Nordic Exploration Music mod comes in.

This mod contains entirely original music perfectly suited for Skyrim thanks to shared inspirations: Northern Europe. It adds a new level of immersion for Nord players as each song is inspired by real-life folk music from Scandinavian and Germanic countries. The beautiful music is apt for any race to enjoy, to be sure, but Nords will specifically feel more immersed than ever with racially-fitting tunes backing their adventures.

Routa - Stormcloak and Warrior Cabin

While Skyrim itself is the home of the Nords, a Nord still needs somewhere to sleep. There are plenty of homes available in Skyrim, and plenty more added with Skyrim Anniversary Edition, but none seem quite fitting for a hero of the Stormcloaks. Not all Nords are Stormcloaks, sure, but Nords who consider themselves true sons and daughters of Skyrim tend to join the cause.

The mod Routa - Stormcloak and Warrior Cabin adds just this, a home befitting the champion of the Nordic uprising. The home has a place to worship Talos, unique furniture, every crafting station, and even a special display mount for Ysgramor's Shield and the Longhammer, two Nordic relics.

Blood of the Nord

There is no shortage of quests in Skyrim, considering that the game's Radiant Quest system theoretically enables players to get unique quests forever. Most of these quests feel pretty repetitive, though, and the end of the Civil War questline leaves much in question, such as how the Aldmeri Dominion would react to a Stormcloak victory and how Skyrim would prepare for such an invasion.

The Blood of the Nord mod takes place immediately after the end of the Civil War questline with the Stormcloaks having repelled the Empire from Skyrim. The mod follows the Dragonborn as they work to solidify Stormcloak rule in the province – with 500 new dialogue lines and a number of new areas to explore it works as a small-scale expansion of the base game that explores the aftermath of the Civil War.

Stormcloak Hero Armory

The Stormcloaks have an advantage over the Imperials in one important facet: style. The blue and gold coloration of Stormcloak gear is much prettier than the muddy red and brown Imperial aesthetic, but it's only seen on Stormcloak soldier equipment. There aren't any special Stormcloak weapons or shields in the base game, either, at least none that have a history solely with the Stormcloaks and not to Nords at large.

The Stormcloak Hero Armory rectifies this by adding a unique set of Stormcloak gear in Ulfric Stormcloak's chambers. The Stormcloak Hero gear includes both a sword and a shield, and can only be found in the Palace of the Kings. If you play Imperial, you can still go to the Palace and loot these items, but be prepared to fight your way out. These two pieces are not craftable.

Amazing Race Tweaks - Nord

The Amazing Race Tweaks series of mods is one of the most popular mod packs ever made. There is an Amazing Race Tweaks mod for each of the playable races, each of which completely overhauls their racial perks, attribute bonuses, and other racial-based effects.

For Nords, the Amazing Race Tweaks mod reduces the Battle Cry recharge time and adds six completely new Nord-appropriate powers that vastly change the Nord playstyle, like decreasing the time between shouts. It also ups their Frost Resistance stat to 70%, grants a 20% increased Persuasion chance, enhanced Power attacks, and improvements to Steel Smithing.
