Marvel games are about to bloom again with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releasing this fall and EA Motive’s Iron Man game in development alongside a handful of other EA and Marvel partnerships. Games like Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy are unlikely to have sequels themselves, but there is always an opportunity for spiritual successors due to how much of a monopoly Marvel and Disney have on popular culture. One of the latest games announced for Marvel, however, doesn’t even have an official title yet.

Skydance’s Marvel game is currently the only official way to refer to the WW2-era Marvel game featuring Captain America, Black Panther, Gabriel Jones, and Nanali. This premise in-and-of itself is enticing if not wholly unique due to its particular setting and the era that plants it in, but having four distinct protagonists will be interesting to balance throughout the game. That amounts to all that is known about the game at the moment, but if for no other reason than to put itself out there for fans to see again, Skydance needs to give it a proper name.

Skydance’s Marvel Game Needs a Legitimate Title Reveal

If Skydance’s Marvel game is still early in development, fans might not be tremendously disappointed if little is shared about it for a while. Marvel’s big-budget lineup already has Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to market between now and the fall, which could assuage the fact that Skydance’s Marvel game might be a ways away still.

Nonetheless, the only shred of information that Skydance needs to get out in front of immediately is the actual title of its Marvel game. It seems like Skydance announced the game far earlier than it maybe should have if it was not even confident in the title it would be given, and that also demonstrates that the game is probably exceedingly far from release.

In the meantime, fans shouldn’t expect to see anything about the game in particular, but it would be a huge balm if Skydance could at least offer a tangible title that fans can cling to while it continues development. It will have almost been a year since the game was officially announced back at the D23 Expo in September 2022, and an official name needs to have been nailed down at this point.

Such a small detail as this will do wonders for it in terms of fans discussing it when they no longer need to refer to it as Skydance’s Marvel game, and will be the tiny push it needs to stay in the backs of fans’ minds during a summer of abundant gaming news. Gameplay will eventually be shown and present to fans how a game with four unique protagonists will look, but that is not what is most pertinent at this time. It is unknown how much further along in development it is at this point, but if Skydance’s Marvel game appears at the PlayStation Showcase this week that would be a great way to remind fans about it.

Otherwise, it is logical to predict that it could instead put its name out there during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest in less than a few weeks. Either way, a name-drop is crucial for Skydance’s Marvel game to have a way to stay relevant in the coming months, leaving a lot of room for it to have its own story and gameplay reveals land in the future when the excitement around other Marvel games has quieted down.
