Back in 2019, developer Thatgamecompany released Sky: Children of the Light to iOS and Android devices. Shortly after its launch, the mobile game had surpassed 20 million downloads. Due to the game's success on mobile devices, the studio revealed last March that a Switch version of the game is in the works, but the port has been delayed due to work changes caused by the pandemic.

Now, Thatgamecompany has confirmed a new release window of Spring 2021 for the Switch port of Sky: Children of the Light. The announcement was made via the game's official Twitter account after it was featured at Nintendo Japan's Indie World presentation. At the moment, specific details about the Switch port, such as cross-play and cross-saves with mobile platforms, are still unknown.

To the uninitiated, Sky: Children of the Light is an explorative game where players traverse the world via a cape that gives them the ability to fly. As players progress through their adventure, they can increase the cape's level, allowing them to fly farther and longer. Apart from its immersive gameplay, Sky: Children of the Light highlights its social mechanics and interaction between players, allowing them to deepen their bonds via gifts and other in-game interactions.

Prior to the success of Sky: Children of Light, Thatgamecompany also produced another popular adventure exploration game called Journey. Sharing a similar premise with Sky: Children of Light, Journey also received critical acclaim when it was first released in 2012, thanks to its vast environment filled with exploration opportunities, gorgeous visuals, and immersive story.

Sky: Children of the Light is available now for Android and iOS, with a Nintendo Switch version releasing in Spring of 2021.
