The developers behind mobile RPG Sky: Children of the Light have announced the final donation results of their most recent charities from earlier this year.

Thatgamecompany's newest mobile game title Sky: Children of the Light, which recently celebrated 20 million downloads, hosted charity initiatives for both Earth Day and Covid-19 relief funds back in April and May with rewards for those who contributed to the causes. Both charities operated via the mobile game, with in-game purchases that would offer the player something in return for their efforts.

For Earth Day on April 22nd, Thatgamecompany's charity focused on reforestation, particularly in the Amazon and the destruction left behind in Australia's bushfires. Players were able to purchase a "Days of Nature" pack in-game that would process the payment as a donation and reward them with a wearable cape for their characters. By the end of the charity, over 40,000 trees had been planted with non-profit organization One Tree Planted.

The Covid-19 relief fund charity ran during the month of May with 100% of its profits going towards Doctors Without Borders to aid in the global response to the pandemic. Players were able to purchase a "Days of Healing" cosmetic pack, which included 75 Regular Candles and a head accessory for $19.99. Thanks to the players of Sky, the charity raised over $1 million to aid in the crisis response.

Thatgamecompany is well-known for its work on the gorgeous explorative title Journey, with some developers from that studio going on to form Giant Squid and work on the underwater adventure game Abzu. Both games are highly acclaimed for their gameplay, visual art styles, and soundtracks, and Sky: Children of the Light is no stranger to similar praise.

Sky: Children of the Light is available free for Android and iOS, with a Nintendo Switch version coming sometime in later 2020.
